On March 19th, 2018, USSH commenced the Academic Writing course for its staff and lecturers. The supervisor was Prof. David Camroux from Paris Institute of Political Studies (Sciences Po).

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Prof. Dr Pham Quang Minh (USSH’s Rector) expressed his gratitude to Prof. David Camroux for coming to the University the second time as supervisor of this course. The Rector reiterated the importance of English writing skills in doing research and compiling curricula and teaching materials. He hoped with courses such as this, the University would be able to design more classes taught in English.

The first lesson was attended by staff and lecturers from USSH’s many faculties such as Faculty of Journalism and Communication, Faculty of Linguistics, and Faculty of Tourism. The attendees discussed with the supervisor about the standards of academic writing in each discipline. The course is flexibly split into different classes so that all the staff and lecturers could attend.

Prof. David Camroux is Senior Researcher within the Centre de Recherches Internationales (CERI). At Sciences Po he is also Associate Professor seconded to Sciences Po where he teaches on contemporary Southeast Asian society, EU-Asian relations and Asian regional integration. He has been a Visiting Professor at the London School of Economics, the Central European University, Gadjah Mada University and Korea University. He is the Co-editor of the Journal of Current Southeast Asian Affairs.
