On May 28th, 2018, Prof. Dr Pham Quang Minh (USSH’s Rector) on behalf of USSH signed on the memorandum of understanding with the Seoul Technical College (South Korea) represented by Dr. Lee Seung Dal (Director). Also participating at the ceremony were representatives from Faculty of Oriental Studies, Office for Student Affairs and Office for Cooperation and Development.

At the meeting, Dr. Lee Seung Dal briefly introduced about the Seoul Technical College (STC). Since its establishment in 1978, the College has always focused on creating better job opportunities for students through providing not only Korean language but also other necessary skills. Korean companies are increasingly investing in Vietnam. In addition to Korean language, Vietnamese graduates are supposed to have special knowledge and skills. Thus, STC is willing to cooperate with USSH to fully develop the capability for Vietnamese students when accessing these Korean companies. In exchange, it would send its students to study at USSH through exchange programs.

On behalf of USSH, Prof. Dr Pham Quang Minh highly appreciated the achievements made by STC and said, in every country’s higher education system, apart from academic institutions, vocational ones such as STC are essential. Therefore, STC would support USSH by providing its students with practical skills, as the latter primarily focuses on basic sciences. As Vietnam and South Korea share many similarities, the bilateral cooperation between two universities become more relevant and would be broadened in the future.

Next, leaders of the two sides signed the MOU. Accordingly, both universities agreed to collaborate closely with each other to achieve their goals in the field of educational cooperation; cooperate to establish a USSH-STC Korean Language & Busines Academy; and jointly run educational business in the field of bilaterally agreed interest in the future. Specific programs or projects developed will be covered by separate agreements or contracts between the parties.

Seoul Technical College is located at the center of Seoul, South Korea. It has 7 faculties, namely Faculty of Architecture, Faculty of Game, Faculty of Design, Faculty of Cosmetics, Faculty of Information Safety, Faculty of Fashion, and Faculty of Hotel. It is built with a student-centered training system, performs its teaching according to each occupation’s requirements, and has a language center providing the English language entrance exam.
