At the meeting, Dr. Csicsmann László briefly introduced about Corvinus University of Budapest, with an emphasis on the Faculty of Social Sciences and International relations. Established in 1963, the Faculty shares close relations with Hungary's Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other ministries. Training-wise, it focuses on international relations, political science, sociology, media and media science. Its current research interests include the trans-disciplinary issues in Europe such as integration, migration, economic and political transition, corruption, minorities and international development. The Faculty has several subordinate institutes such as Institute of World Economy, Institute of International relations, and Institute of Geography, Geoeconomy and Sustainable Development. Dr. Csicsmann László hoped his Faculty and USSH would establish cooperation in the near future.
In response, Prof. Dr Pham Quang Minh expressed his gratitude for having a chance to welcome the delegation from Corvinus University of Budapest. He also briefly introduced about USSH and said the University shared many similarities with Corvinus University of Budapest's. Both universities have programs in social science, sociology, and media and communication. Both are concerned about the strategy of internationalization, especially the strengthening of international relations, increasing the number of courses taught in English and international publication. Vietnam and Hungary have both been experiencing and consolidating their economic and political institutions. These constitute a solid foundation for bilateral cooperation in the near future.
Next, Prof. Dr Pham Quang Minh suggested signing an official memorandum of understanding; commencing student and lecturer exchanges through such programs as 2+2 and 3+1; co-organizing an international conference focusing on common subjects such as EU-ASEAN relations, comparative politics, and migration in Europe. Dr. Csicsmann László agreed with Prof. Dr Pham Quang Minh's suggestions and said Corvinus University of Budapest would be willing to welcome Vietnamese students to Hungary to study and do internship. He also hoped USSH would receive Hungarian lecturers to conduct research on the political, economic and cultural issues in Vietnam and Southeast Asia as a whole.
Established in 1948, Corvinus University of Budapest is a research university oriented towards education. The university currently has an enrollment of approximately 14,500 students, offering educational programmes in business administration, economics, and social sciences.
