1. Purpose and research objects of the thesis

1.1. The purpose of the thesis is to study the characteristics of the communication role of the Vietnamese police officer through several film scripts. From there, the thesis contributes to the study of language communication in general, Vietnamese communication according to the social stratification of sociolinguistics in particular; contributing to the building of a communication culture in the Vietnamese police force.

1.2. The thesis focuses on studying the manifestation of linguistic characteristics of the communication roles of the police officers in formal and informal communication (through several film scripts) from the following aspects: address behavior and language behavior.

2. Research methods used

The thesis uses the following methods: Discourse analysis method; Descriptive analysis method; Interdisciplinary method.

3. Main results and conclusions

3.1. Main results

- The thesis has established a theoretical framework on: communication, communication roles; television scripts and the character of the People's Public Security soldier in television scripts.

- The thesis has surveyed, analyzed and pointed out the linguistic characteristics of the pairs of communication roles in the People's Public Security force in official communication in terms of: address behavior, language behavior and studied the case of the pair of roles "I" - "comrade" in official communication.

- The thesis has surveyed, analyzed and pointed out the linguistic characteristics of communication roles in the People's Public Security force in informal communication in terms of: address behavior, language behavior and studied the case of the role pair "I" - "comrade" in informal communication.

3.2. Conclusion

Through the study of "Characteristics of communication language in the People's Public Security ForceVietnam(through several film scripts)”, the thesis stated: communication of the People's Public Security soldiers is a form of communication that is both formal and informal; both traditional and modern. This is the most profound expression in imbuing Ho Chi Minh's thought in preserving the ethics and character of revolutionary People's Public Security soldiers.

- The thesis investigated, analyzed and pointed out the linguistic characteristics of the pair of communication ranks in the People's Public Security force in formal communication in the following aspects: vocative acts, speech acts and researched the case study of "I" - "Comrade" vocative in formal communication.

- The thesis investigated, analyzed and pointed out the linguistic characteristics of the pair of communication ranks in the People's Public Security force in informal communication in the following aspects: vocative acts, speech acts and researched the case study of "I" - "Comrade" vocative in informal communication.
