3.1. Main results

The thesis has pointed out the manifestations of spiritual culture in contemporary Vietnamese novels such as spiritual cultural space-time, spiritual cultural phenomena, and spiritual cultural rituals.

The thesis has classified and analyzed the basic characteristics of the type of spiritual cultural character, a unique type of character in Vietnamese literature after the 1986 renovation.

The thesis has raised the ways of expressing spiritual culture in contemporary Vietnamese novels.

3.2. Conclusion

The appearance of spiritual culture in contemporary Vietnamese novels marks the comprehensive “modernization” process of Vietnamese literature in general and Vietnamese novels in particular. Spiritual culture is not simply a tool or means to convey artistic ideas but also a direct object of description by writers.

Spiritual culture in contemporary Vietnamese novels has diverse and rich manifestations in terms of space-time, characters, work structure, expression methods, etc. On the other hand, spiritual culture in contemporary Vietnamese novels both inherits spiritual cultural elements in medieval literature and learns and absorbs spiritual elements in modern Western literature.

The portrayal of spiritual culture is one of the prominent factors promoting the development of contemporary Vietnamese novels in both quantity and quality.
