Summary of the results of the thesis: The thesis has outlined the groups and types of basic construction documents formed during the construction process, clarified the theoretical basis for building the Table of preservation periods for documents of civil construction works. In particular, the thesis has built the Table of preservation periods for documents of civil construction works. Chapter 1. General issues of construction documents In this chapter, the author delves into the study of construction documents such as content, document components, characteristics... In particular, the groups and types of documents formed during the construction process of civil works are listed in detail to see the diversity in terms of types of this group of documents. At the same time, in Chapter 1, the author also studies and learns about the levels of civil construction works and related agencies in the process of constructing a work. With these contents, chapter one has a relatively important position as a premise for the implementation of the following chapters of the topic. Chapter 2. This is an important chapter, of primary significance in helping the author build and apply correct principles and standards to determine the preservation periods for types and levels of works and construct a table of preservation periods for documents of civil construction works in Chapter 3. Chapter 3. Constructing a table of preservation periods for documents of civil construction works. Based on the types of documents formed during the construction process listed in Chapter One and the theoretical basis established in Chapter Two, in Chapter Three, the author has drafted the Table of preservation periods for documents of civil construction works. This is an important chapter, showing most of the author's research results. 11. Practical applicability: The research results of the Project will be a source of reference for agencies, organizations and individuals working in the field of construction document archiving in determining the value of these documents. At the same time, the project is also a source of reference to help the State Records and Archives Department research, develop and issue professional guidance documents for construction documents. The results of the thesis will contribute a small part in theory in the research and development of the preservation period table for documents of civil construction works in particular and construction documents in general - a type of document that has not been studied much in our country at present. 12. Chapter 1: General issues on civil construction works' document In this chapter, the author focuses on civil construction works' document, such as its content, types and features of document… Especially, the thesis identifies and lists different groups and types of document created in building a construction project to show the diversity of this kind of document. In this chapter, the author also studies different types of construction works and organizations involved in a construction project. With the above-mentioned content, chapter 1 plays an important role in implementing the following chapter. Chapter 2: Theoretical basis of building retention schedule for civil construction works' document Based on the survey's outcome in chapter 1, the author sets up theoretical basis of building a retention schedule for civil construction works' document. This is a significant chapter because it helps the author to establish and apply principles and standards to identify retention period for different types of construction works and build retention schedule for construction works as in chapter 3. Chapter 3: Building retention schedule for document of civil construction works Based on types of document created during implementation of a construction project mentioned in chapter 1 and theoretical basis in chapter 2, in chapter 3 the author sets up a draft of retention schedule for civil construction works. The chapter shows most of the results of the author's research. 11. Practical applicability: Result of the research is a resource of reference for organizations, agencies as well as record managers to assess this kind of document. The thesis is also a source of information for the State Records and Archives Department of Vietnam to study, build and enact professional guiding document relating management of civil construction works' document. In terms of theory, the thesis's outcome will make a contribution to research and building retention schedule for documentation of civil construction works in particular and construction works' document in general – a kind of document which is not studied so much in our country. 12. Further research directions: Continue to study and research to build retention schedule for other types of construction works.
