Summary of the results of the thesis: Firstly, the thesis has systematized the theoretical basis of the environment, natural environment, environmental protection and the relationship between the natural environment and tourism development. Secondly, the thesis has pointed out the important role of the natural environment in the development of tourism in Ha Long - Quang Ninh, which is the basis for proposing solutions for protecting the natural environment, ensuring sustainable development of tourism in Ha Long. By studying the theories of the natural environment, the relationship between the natural environment and tourism and through the current state of the natural environment in Ha Long, the thesis has contributed to pointing out the objective and subjective causes of the current situation. * Objective causes - Sources of influence from socio-economic activities affecting the natural environment and the urgent role of humans in environmental protection actions in Vietnam in particular and the world in general. - The development of regional economic sectors leads to the decline in the quality of the natural environment, leading to changes in socio-economic activities. - The dependence of tourism development on the natural environment and the need for tourists to enjoy a clean natural environment when traveling. * Subjective causes - Changes in the quality of the natural environment of Ha Long - Quang Ninh. - The impact of socio-economic activities on the natural environment of Ha Long area. - There is no seriousness and thoroughness in the issue of protecting the natural environment. - The application of tools for protecting the natural environment still has some shortcomings. Firstly, the sense of responsibility of people in preserving and protecting the environment is still limited, on the other hand, the authorities do not have sanctions to handle acts of environmental pollution by people as well as tourists. Second, economic sectors (tourism, industry) have not strictly implemented the preservation of the natural environment during business operations. Third, some tools that local authorities have put forward for environmental protection such as regulations and sanctions for acts of destroying the natural environment have not been seriously implemented, some business units still prioritize profits and forget the responsibility to protect the natural environment, ensuring sustainable environmental development. Fourth, the propaganda work on protecting the natural environment is still superficial and not thorough, applied irregularly, continuously, not widely disseminated but only limited to a number of cruise ships. Units directly involved in tourism activities do not have a sense of responsibility in contributing to the propaganda of protecting the natural environment. Fifth, the means, technical facilities as well as human resources serving environmental protection are still limited, not clearly understanding the importance of preserving a clean - beautiful natural environment which has great significance in the long-term development of the tourism industry. Sixth, the thesis has proposed basic orientations and solutions contributing to the protection of the natural environment of Ha Long tourist area such as: zoning for environmental protection; establishing a waste collection and treatment system; environmental control; promoting propaganda to raise public awareness; minimizing the environmental impact of economic activities; protecting tidal flats and restoring mangrove forests; establishing an environmental monitoring system; inspecting and handling violations; mobilizing finance for environmental protection; investment solutions; institutional and policy solutions; improve environmental management capacity…….. 11.
