Summary of the results of the thesis This is a thesis discussing moral education for children in urban families today, through a survey in Ha Dong district, Hanoi city. There are three main findings drawn from this study, as follows: First, the number of children involved in social evils such as drugs, gambling, especially school violence is increasing. These evils not only occur with boys but also with girls, causing physical and mental harm to them. One of the important reasons leading to the above phenomenon is the inadequate attention of parents to moral education for their children. Second, a large number of parents believe that many basic moral values need to be taught to their children. Those basic moral values are: filial piety, love, politeness, respect, respect for teachers, honesty and straightforwardness. Regarding the method of educating children about moral values, parents with different occupations and educational levels have different ways of educating. It is worth noting that many parents trust the school too much and they completely entrust their children to the school. Some parents even think that they need to send their children out into society to grow up. This is a very wrong way of thinking because parents must cooperate with the school to have a good way of educating, helping children develop well and not get involved in social evils. Third, the thesis points out that in educating children about moral values, the family still plays a very important role. It should be noted that parents, fathers and mothers need to coordinate closely with schools and social organizations to have good measures in moral education for children. 11. Practical applicability: The study has pointed out the causes affecting the decline in morality (especially violence) of secondary school children today, thereby contributing to making recommendations and appropriate policies to educate children more effectively. 12. Further research directions: None 13. Published works related to the thesis: "The role of the family in educating bad children in the city" (PhD thesis in Social Sciences - Nguyen Duc Manh)

Summary of the findings of the thesis: This is a Thesis on moral education for urban children in the families now. The sociological survey was taken place in Ha Dong district, Ha Noi City. We drew out three main points: Firstly, the number of children were involved in social evils such as drugs, gambling, especially school violence is increasing. These evils are not only happening to those boys, but also to the girls, hurting the body and the spirit of the children. One important reason leading to this phenomenon is that the parents are not properly concerned for the moral education for their children. Second, a large proportion of parents say that many basic moral values should be educated for children. These basic moral values are: filial piety, love, the politeness, respect, respect for teachers, virtues of honesty and fairness. Regarding the method of teaching moral values to their children, parents who have different professions and education also have different ways of education. It should be noted that too many parents believe in and surrender their children for school. Some parents also said that their children need to be grown up in social environment. This is a mistake to think because their parents should combine with school in order to find the best education way, so that it can make children go the right way and avoid the social evils. Third, thesis points out that, the family still plays an important role for the education of moral values to their children. It should be noted that their parents, the fathers, mothers need to work closely with schools and social organizations to have good measures in the moral education for children. 12.
