Summary of the thesis results: - Short television documentaries appeared in Vietnam in the mid-1990s of the 20th century. There is still much debate surrounding the naming, genre classification, and structure of short television documentaries. Based on the opinions of researchers, television journalists, and the author's own experience in creating short television documentaries over many years, the author points out the differences between short documentaries and similar genres so that colleagues and newcomers to the profession can make basic distinctions between genres. Based on theory and practice in creating such works, the author also boldly presents his own concept of short television documentaries. - Through an analysis of the current use of short television documentaries in the 7:50 PM news program of HTV9, the author has pointed out the role, position, and importance of short documentaries in news programs. The strengths of short television news reports, such as their visuals, sound, commentary, and sound effects, have been fully exploited by HTV to achieve the highest effectiveness in using them in its news programs. This study analyzes the successes, limitations, and problems encountered in HTV's use of short television news reports in its news programs, aiming to share experiences to improve their effectiveness. Some recommendations for improving the effectiveness of short television news reports are personal opinions based on an analysis of the successes and limitations of HTV9's news programs, offering suggestions for organizing production and use of short news reports for maximum efficiency. 11. Practical application: This thesis contributes theoretical insights to the research system on the genre of short television news reports, a topic that has not been fully studied and remains highly debated. This thesis will partly strengthen the theoretical foundation of short television news reports for television journalists and those new to the profession, enabling them to apply this knowledge in practice during the production and use of short television news reports. 12.
