Summary of the thesis results: We chose the issue of time as the research topic for the thesis because Jonathan Littell's The Good Guys is a memoir of a former SS officer's wartime memories - the main character who is also the narrator. The nature of memories has dominated the tone, creating a kind of overlapping time, interwoven in the almost stream of consciousness of the main character. In addition, studying the art of time in The Good Guys also helps us to open up the central issue of the work from two aspects of content and art. In addition to the introduction, conclusion and references, the thesis is divided into three chapters. Chapter 1: we focus on two major issues: general theory of time and socio-historical issues. This is the theoretical basis for us to apply the analysis of the art of time in the following chapters of the thesis. Chapter 2: We apply Genette's theory of time to study the levels of time in The Good Guys: temporal order, temporality and frequency. Chapter 3: We study the relationship between time and other elements of artistic form such as: space, viewpoint, stream of consciousness.
