Summary of thesis results: Based on the theory of journalistic genres and foreign affairs information, combined with a survey of news and reports on the VTV4 foreign affairs television channel, the thesis has formed and supplemented some theoretical issues on the genre of television news and reports. The survey and analysis of important elements in news and reports show the current state of news and report production on VTV4, with its strengths, weaknesses, causes, and solutions. From that basis, principles are derived for producing quality news and television reports for overseas Vietnamese audiences, effectively carrying out foreign information work for the Vietnamese community abroad. In particular, the thesis has outlined 3 criteria for creating quality news and television reports for the Vietnamese public abroad as follows: (1) meeting the function of ideological education; (2) meeting the need for current news information; (3) the way of expression is suitable to the psychological reception of the Vietnamese public abroad. 11. Practical application: Based on the results of audience surveys combined with interviews with journalists working directly at VTV4 and some other television stations, the thesis has attempted to propose a new style for the 0 o'clock news bulletin for the Vietnamese community in the US. This is a specific proposal with improvements in content and form of expression, with the desire to better meet the information needs of the Vietnamese public abroad. This practical reference model is helpful for those working in international television broadcasting in particular and international journalism in general. 12. Future research directions: The main research direction of this thesis focuses on producing news and reports for Vietnamese people abroad in general, without dividing it into specific groups with distinct characteristics and needs such as Vietnamese people in America, Europe, Australia, Asia, etc. The reason is due to limited research capabilities and conditions. Summary of the findings of the thesis: Based on the theoretical foundation of media genres, external information along with the survey of news and reportages on VTV4- a TV channel for overseas Vietnamese, the thesis has been completed, adding a number of theoretical issues about TV news and reportages. The survey and analysis of important factors in news and reportages shows the situation of producing news and reportages on VTV4, with the strengths, weaknesses and the causes and remedies. From these foundations, the thesis has drawn out principles to produce high-quality news and TV reportages, bringing effective procedure of broadcasting news for overseas Vietnamese. Especially, the thesis has stated three criteria of the creation in producing high-quality news, TV reportages for overseas Vietnamese: (1) meet the function of thought education; (2) meet the information needs; (3) methods of presenting which are suitable to the psychology of overseas Vietnamese. 11. Practical applicability, if any: Based on the results of viewer survey combining with interviews with journalists working for VTV4 and a number of other televisions, the thesis has proposed a new model of production of the program “news at 0am” for Vietnamese living in the USA. This is a specific recommendation, improving the content and forms of expression with the aim at meeting to improve the information needs of the overseas Vietnamese community. This practical model supports people working in foreign televisions in particular and foreign press in general. 12. Further research directions, if any: The key research direction of the thesis focuses on the production of news and reportages for overseas Vietnamese in general, which is not divided into specific groups, with the specific characteristics and needs as Vietnam in the Americas, Europe, Australia, or Asia ... The reason is due to the capacity and limitations of the thesis. However, if there are favorable conditions in the future; the author will carry out this research direction in another study. 13.
