On October 8, 2024, at a ceremony commemorating the 578th anniversary of the promulgation of the Hangeul alphabet system, organized by the Korean Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Dr. Luu Tuan Anh, Head of the Korean Studies Department (Faculty of Oriental Studies, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi), was honored to receive a Certificate of Merit from the President of South Korea.

The Department of Korean Studies – where Professor Luu Tuan Anh works – is a pioneering unit in teaching and researching Korean studies in Vietnam. Established in 1995, the department has made significant contributions to the development of high-quality human resources, serving cultural, economic, and educational cooperation between the two countries.
As Head of the Department of Korean Studies and President of the Vietnam Association for Korean Studies, Dr. Luu Tuan Anh has contributed to the development of training and in-depth research programs on Korea, while also connecting scholars, organizing numerous multi-faceted academic forums, and operating a Korean studies journal. These efforts have not only helped improve the quality of teaching but also contributed to strengthening international academic exchange.
The seminars and academic activities organized by Dr. and his colleagues have consistently received high praise from the Vietnamese and Korean research communities, contributing to affirming Vietnam's position in the field of Korean studies.
The award ceremony took place amidst the strong development of Vietnam-Korea cooperation in all fields since the two countries upgraded their relationship to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
