As part of a series of activities to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the government's decree on VNU and the 55th anniversary of the establishment of the Faculty of Vietnamese Studies and Vietnamese Language, the Trade Union of the Faculty of Vietnamese Studies and Vietnamese Language, VNU-USSH hosted the "VSL Run - Heritage Journey - Heritage Run" on December 24, 2023 at the Hanoi National University Urban Area - Hoa Lac.
The race was attended by Dr. Ngo Thi Kieu Oanh - President of the Trade Union of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities; Dr. Le Thi Thanh Tam - Head of the Faculty of Literature and Art; representative of the Executive Committee of the VNU Trade Union, along with all teachers, staff and students of the Faculty of Literature and Art.
“VSL Run – Heritage Journey” attracted the participation of nearly 80 athletes including lecturers and students, divided into groups: lecturers of the Faculty of VNH&TV; students of courses 65, 66, 67, 68 of the Faculty of VNH&TV and students from faculties/institutes in the University. In particular, the event also attracted the participation of many international students from many countries such as Russia, Japan, China, Ukraine, Laos... studying at the Faculty of VNH&TV.
“VSL – Heritage Journey” includes two events: Relay race (4x100m team competition) and middle distance race (1500m individual competition for women, 3000m for men). This is a sports activity to improve physical fitness, improve health for staff and students, and carry out the sports movement to improve health following the example of great Uncle Ho. With a spacious space and modern, suitable facilities, Hanoi National University in Hoa Lac has created an ideal environment for athletes to best demonstrate their abilities. This event is an important step in expanding the space for organizing sports and cultural activities of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU.
In particular, the route of the “VSL Run – Heritage Journey” is designed to simulate a journey through the 3 regions of North – Central – South of Vietnam with 3 famous landmarks: starting from Hanoi, going to Hue and ending in Ho Chi Minh City. This is also the mission of the Faculty of Vietnamese Studies and Vietnamese Language over the past 55 years to bring Vietnamese language and culture to the world so that international friends can have more understanding and interest in Vietnam, the beauty of the people and the cultural diversity of Vietnam in all regions.
At the 2023 "VSL - Heritage Journey" race, the active participation of international students studying at the Faculty of Vietnamese Studies and Vietnamese Language brought a unique and multicultural combination to the event held in Hoa Lac. Overcoming differences in language and culture, each international student brought a unique color expressing determination, leaving a deep impression on the journey to participate in the race, while demonstrating the beauty of exchange and solidarity in the common home of Hanoi Humanities.
After a very exciting and bustling competition period, the 2023 "VSL - Heritage Journey" Run was a great success. At the end of the competition, the Organizing Committee awarded the First, Second, and Third prizes for each event.
First Prize in Relay Race: belongs to K65 Vietnam Studies Group
First prize in the 3000m men's race belongs to: Athlete Nguyen Ba Binh (K67 Management Science)
First Prize in the Women's 1500m Race was won by athlete Makhotina Vesta (international student from Russia).
And all athletes participating in the competition will receive medals from the Organizing Committee to recognize and commend the efforts and enthusiasm of each athlete in each race.
The 2023 "VSL Run - Heritage Journey" successfully concluded, being an outstanding and impressive event in the series of activities celebrating the 55th anniversary of the establishment of the Faculty of Vietnamese Studies and Vietnamese Language. The success of this race once again affirmed the spread and inspiration of love for the country and Vietnamese culture to the international community. The competition created opportunities for lecturers and students of the University to participate in exciting sports activities, improve health, and enhance solidarity and exchange, thereby contributing to promoting the development of culture and sports in the university community at Vietnam National University, Hanoi.
