As part of the activities commemorating the 30th anniversary of the government's decree on Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU) and the 55th anniversary of the establishment of the Faculty of Vietnamese Studies and Vietnamese Language, the Trade Union of the Faculty of Vietnamese Studies and Vietnamese Language, VNU-USSH, hosted the "VSL - Heritage Run" on December 24, 2023, at the Vietnam National University, Hanoi - Hoa Lac Urban Area.
The race was attended by Dr. Ngo Thi Kieu Oanh - President of the Trade Union of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities; Dr. Le Thi Thanh Tam - Head of the Faculty of Literature and Television; representatives of the Executive Committee of the Trade Union of Vietnam National University, Hanoi, along with all the teachers, staff and students of the Faculty of Literature and Television.
The “VSL Run – Heritage Journey” attracted nearly 80 participants, including lecturers and students, divided into teams: the Faculty of Literature and Television lecturers; the student teams from cohorts 65, 66, 67, and 68 of the Faculty of Literature and Television; and student teams from other faculties/institutes within the University. Notably, the event also attracted many international students from countries such as Russia, Japan, China, Ukraine, and Laos, who are studying at the Faculty of Literature and Television.

The “VSL – Heritage Journey” race consists of two events: relay race (4x100m team competition) and middle-distance race (1500m individual competition for women, 3000m for men). This is a sporting activity aimed at improving physical fitness and health for staff and students, implementing the movement of physical exercise and health training following the example of the great President Ho Chi Minh. With its spacious grounds and modern, suitable facilities, the Vietnam National University, Hanoi in Hoa Lac has created an ideal environment for athletes to best showcase their abilities. This event is an important step in expanding the space for organizing sports and cultural activities of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi.

In particular, the route of the “VSL Race – Heritage Journey” is designed to simulate a journey through the three regions of Vietnam – North, Central, and South – with three famous landmarks: starting from Hanoi, to Hue, and ending in Ho Chi Minh City. This is also the mission of the Faculty of Vietnamese Studies and Vietnamese Language for the past 55 years, aiming to bring the Vietnamese language and culture to the world so that international friends can gain a better understanding and interest in Vietnam, its beautiful people, and its diverse culture across all regions.



At the 2023 "VSL - Heritage Journey" race, the active participation of international students studying at the Faculty of Vietnamese Studies and Vietnamese Language brought a unique and multicultural blend to the event held in Hoa Lac. Overcoming language and cultural differences, each international student brought their own unique personality, demonstrating determination and leaving a lasting impression on their journey, while also showcasing the beauty of camaraderie and solidarity within the Hanoi University of Humanities.
After an extremely exciting and lively competition, the 2023 "VSL - Heritage Journey" race concluded successfully. At the end of the event, the Organizing Committee awarded first, second, and third prizes for each category.
First prize in the Relay Race: awarded to the K65 Vietnamese Studies team.
First prize in the men's 3000m race goes to: Athlete Nguyen Ba Binh (K67, Management Science)
The first prize in the women's 1500m race went to athlete Makhotina Vesta (an international student from Russia).
And all participating athletes will receive medals from the organizing committee to recognize and commend their efforts and enthusiasm throughout each stage of the race.
The 2023 "VSL Run – Heritage Journey" concluded successfully, a highlight and impressive event in the series of activities celebrating the 55th anniversary of the Faculty of Vietnamese Studies and Vietnamese Language. The success of this race once again affirmed the widespread influence and inspiration of love for Vietnam and its culture among the international community. The competition provided an opportunity for faculty and students to participate in vibrant sports activities, improve their health, and strengthen solidarity and interaction, thereby contributing to the development of culture and sports within the university community at Vietnam National University, Hanoi.
