Humanism 2025: Intelligence - Sharing - Professionalism - Harmonious Development

That was the message Rector Hoang Anh Tuan wanted to convey to all staff and lecturers of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU-USSH) at the Lunar New Year greeting meeting on February 3, 2025 – the first day back to work after the holiday.

The spring of innovation and development

In a warm and joyful atmosphere, Professor Hoang Anh Tuan, Secretary of the Party Committee and Rector of the University, extended his best wishes to all staff, employees, and students of the University. Rector Hoang Anh Tuan once again happily shared: “After the Tet holiday spent with family, we return to school today to begin the Humanities – 2025 journey, a journey full of challenges but also full of promise, with the joy of the results achieved since 2024, as well as the impressive figures of the past nearly 5 years: Basically completed with 30 out of 33 targets met or exceeded the set plan, with some targets even exceeding the plan. Training has made significant breakthroughs, especially in the innovation and restructuring of training programs, standardization of undergraduate and postgraduate training processes. Scientific research has achieved many successes, with the number of international and national publications increasing steadily over the years, while also promoting effective cooperation with localities, fulfilling national responsibility in research and policy advice for ministries, departments, and localities throughout the country. The organizational structure, comprising the Party Committee, Board of Directors, and University Council, along with second-level units, has been streamlined for efficiency in accordance with Resolution No. 18-NQ/TW and the directives of Hanoi National University. The high-quality workforce is steadily increasing, and the university has also attracted additional high-quality personnel from outside, including 3 Associate Professors and 9 Doctors, raising the percentage of staff with doctoral degrees to 81%; and the percentage of staff with professor/associate professor titles to 21% (the highest among higher education institutions and far exceeding the national average). The administrative staff is increasingly professional, friendly, and efficient. Facilities are modernized and upgraded; financial management is rigorous, balancing income and expenditure, increasing staff income and unit accumulation; external relations are expanding; legal frameworks are standardized; media coverage is widespread, and the journal is consolidating its national standing and preparing to expand internationally.

The New Year's gathering for the Year of the Snake (2015) was held in a solemn and warm atmosphere right at the Humanities Square, 336 Nguyen Trai Street.
Entering 2025, despite facing many difficulties and challenges in the fiercely competitive environment of higher education, the pressure of the autonomy mechanism, and building on the 80-year tradition and achievements already attained, especially the unity, consensus, and dedication of all faculty and staff, Rector Hoang Anh Tuan expressed his hope that the University of Social Sciences and Humanities will continue to achieve success, practically commemorating the 80th anniversary of the Faculty of Literature and General Studies and the 30th anniversary of the University's establishment. The Rector conveyed a message for 2025 to all faculty and staff through four words: USSH: Understanding - Sympathy - Service - Harmony.

Digital humanities in the era of national development

During a visit to extend New Year greetings to the leadership and faculty of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Professor Dr. Le Quan, Secretary of the Party Committee, Chairman of the Council, and Director of Vietnam National University, Hanoi, along with leaders of various departments and functional units of Vietnam National University, Hanoi, expressed their heartfelt sentiments and conveyed their expectations to the leadership, staff, and employees of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities.
Congratulating and appreciating the achievements the school has made in 2024, Director Le Quan emphasized. “On this first day of the new year, I am extremely pleased to see the significant changes at this university with a rich 80-year tradition. While maintaining its tradition of academic excellence, high standards, and high quality in training and scientific research, this spring the university has a new, more spacious and modern appearance, which will surely bring new momentum and inspiration. Over the past year, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities has not only affirmed its leading position in the field of social sciences and humanities but has also pioneered digital transformation, applying technology and artificial intelligence to training, scientific research, and innovation activities. In the context of the strong digital transformation taking place in all aspects, the application of technology in higher education has become an inevitable trend. The leadership of Vietnam National University, Hanoi, expects that the Digital Humanities will not just be a trend or slogan but will be concretized in the strategy and all areas of activity, contributing to affirming the brand and position of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities on the map of higher education.” In Vietnam, reaching out to the region and the world, contributing to the overall development of Hanoi National University.
