Congress of the Faculty of Literature Party Cell: affirming position and sustainable development in the context of autonomy and international integration

 
On behalf of the Party Committee for the 2022-2025 term, comrade Nguyen Thu Hien (Party Cell Secretary) presented the Political Report of the Party Cell, emphasizing: The Party Cell of the Faculty of Literature has basically completed and exceeded the targets set out in the Resolution of the Party Congress for the 2022-2025 term and the targets assigned by the School. Notably, the Faculty has comprehensively innovated the entire training program at all levels: undergraduate, master's and doctoral; recruited enough and exceeded the assigned enrollment targets at the undergraduate and master's levels, successfully built and officially recruited 01 new training program: Cinema and Popular Arts, completed the integration of master's and doctoral training programs in a streamlined direction, meeting practical requirements. Building, consolidating and developing a team of highly qualified staff, in the 2 years of 2023-2024, the Faculty will add 4 more staff (1 Associate Professor, 1 PhD, 2 PhD students) and is preparing to receive 1 PhD. Scientific research work has also achieved good results, affirming the position and brand of the unit with 70 years of tradition in training and researching literature. In the past term, the Faculty of Literature has organized many national and international seminars with high professional prestige. Party development activities are especially emphasized, the Party Cell has admitted 4 party members including 1 staff member, 3 students and has an abundant source of Party sympathy among students. In addition to the achievements, the Report also frankly pointed out some remaining problems and proposed solutions to overcome them: The work of standardizing academic titles and degrees to develop a team of highly qualified staff from existing resources has not been strongly promoted, some departments lack successors; the unit still faces difficulties in completing the annual international publication targets; training forms are not diversified, especially short-term courses to meet the needs of society. Based on the correct assessment of the achieved results, as well as the limitations and shortcomings, the Party Committee of the Faculty of Literature has proposed a number of directions for activities, targets and specific solutions for the coming term. In particular, the key tasks are: Organizing a solemn and meaningful 70th Anniversary Ceremony of the Faculty of Literature in 2026; 80% of lecturers achieving PhD degrees, 20% meeting the standards for the title of Professor/Associate Professor; completing 100% of the annual enrollment target, opening a number of new short-term training programs associated with the professional characteristics of the unit; successfully organizing 1 national scientific conference, 01 international scientific conference with international publications.
Speaking at the Congress of the Faculty of Literature Party Cell, Party Secretary Hoang Anh Tuan praised the careful and serious preparation of the Party Cell from personnel work, congress documents, as well as the spirit of daring to look straight at the truth, identifying existing problems to find solutions to overcome them thoroughly. “In the new context with many challenges but also many advantages and opportunities (priority policy for training and research in basic sciences of the Party, Government, Ministry of Education and Training) with a 70-year tradition, high-level human resources, determination, daring to think, daring to do, daring to take responsibility of the leadership team, the support, solidarity, and dedication of party members and cadres, I am sure that the Faculty of Literature will achieve great success in the coming term” – Party Secretary Hoang Anh Tuan emphasized. Delegates attending the congress discussed and contributed many opinions to the political reports of the School Party Committee for the 2020-2025 term, focusing on expressing their approval and high consensus with the content of the reports. In addition, the delegates also contributed a number of solutions to achieve the set goals in the context of autonomy and rapid technological development.
Associate Professor, Dr. Pham Xuan Thach (Head of the Faculty of Literature) emphasized: there needs to be more drastic solutions to build a team of successors in all departments; exploit the maximum scientific potential of the team of researchers to build a strong research group (NCM), implement many scientific topics at all levels, need to organize national and even international scientific conferences on training and research in Literature in the new situation, thereby expecting to publish research with high scientific and practical quality. Dr. Dinh Thanh Hieu highly appreciated the political report of the Party Committee which summarized all the achievements and proposed feasible and practical targets. In 2015, the mission and vision of the Faculty of Literature until 2025 were announced, and the major strategic goals have basically been realized. In the new situation, the Party Committee and the leadership of the Faculty need to issue a new document on the mission and vision to correctly determine the guiding mission, identity, national and international position of the Faculty of Literature, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, with special attention paid to personnel work.        
The Congress elected the Faculty of Literature Party Committee for the 2025-2027 term, including 3 comrades: Le Van Cuong, Nguyen Thu Hien, Nguyen Thi Nam Hoang; in which 100% of delegates attending the Congress voted to elect comrade Nguyen Thu Hien to continue holding the position of Party Cell Secretary; comrade Le Van Cuong was elected as Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee.
On behalf of the Party Cell Executive Committee for the 2025-2030 term, Secretary Nguyen Thu Hien respectfully thanked all Party members in the Party Cell for their trust in the new term Executive Committee, and expressed gratitude for the dedication and contributions of generations of teachers who were leaders of the Party Cell and leaders of the Faculty in previous terms, laying an important foundation for the development of the unit, and also affirmed that the support and solidarity of all Party members in the Party Cell is the decisive factor to help the Party Cell Executive Committee successfully complete the task of bringing the Faculty of Literature to develop strongly.
The Congress also elected official delegates and alternate delegates representing the Faculty of Literature Party Cell to attend the Congress of Party Delegates of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities for the 2025-2030 term and approved the Congress Resolution.
