What is AI? How can AI help you in your life?
In today's technological world, artificial intelligence (AI) is gradually becoming an indispensable part of every aspect of social life. The emergence of AI tools, with capabilities such as writing essays, solving math problems, and designing images, has greatly excited users, especially young people.
In response to the speaker's multiple-choice question: What is AI, and what tools or applications using AI have you used? Nearly 500 students in the auditorium chose the answer: AI (Artificial Intelligence) means artificial intelligence, a technology that simulates human thought and knowledge acquisition; and each student, while still a student, had installed and used at least one AI application or tool for their studies and entertainment.
In the last decade, the emergence of Generative AI has been considered the most groundbreaking development in AI. Gen AI focuses on the ability to generate new and diverse content based on initial input data.

The basic components of AI
According to Associate Professor Dr. Do Van Hung, there are currently hundreds of AI applications and tools developed by technology corporations worldwide.

Popular AI applications today
Among them, some of the most popular applications include: Chat GPT, Gemini, Midjourney, Canva AI, Copilot, etc. In particular, students can install the free versions to meet their learning and entertainment needs.
GPT Chat (chatbot) is hailed as the world's smartest AI. GPT Chat is capable of answering questions, writing text, translating languages, and even participating in complex conversations. With its understanding across multiple fields, users' questions and concerns are answered in just seconds.
Gemini is one of the latest free AI tools developed by Google. Built on a deep learning model, Gemini can understand, analyze, and interact with various types of data such as images, text, and audio, thereby helping users create intelligent applications tailored to their needs.
As a free AI image creation software, Midjourney allows users to create image series with just a few lines of verbal or text descriptions. Simply provide the information about the image you need, and Midjourney will automatically generate the corresponding image within minutes.
Canva AI is an extremely popular and widely used image editing and design tool today.
Thus, AI can do many things, especially processing massive datasets to provide very fast and accurate analyses.
That's a question most freshmen are concerned about, and some even express worry about.
Through insightful analyses and concrete examples, Associate Professor Dr. Do Van Hung helps students gain a deep understanding of the role and applications of AI in their lives, studies, careers, and personal development. In reality, technology corporations worldwide will continue to improve AI to make it even smarter and more user-friendly, but there are still limitations that AI cannot overcome.

In his presentation, Associate Professor Dr. Do Van Hung suggested some "secrets" to using AI in a "smart, responsible, lawful, and ethical" way. One of the key keywords was "creating intelligent prompts," because when you provide accurate, specific, and high-quality prompts, the result will be a perfect product from an expert, exactly as you desire.
From now on, equipping each student with the knowledge and skills to use AI in their studies, scientific research, or startups will be a huge advantage, especially after graduation when they will enter the job market with high competition and demanding requirements from employers.
Mr. Tran Duc Hoa's presentation on the AI application capacity building project implemented by VNU-USSH and Meta received significant interest and enthusiasm from a large number of students. The project aims to enhance the understanding and application of artificial intelligence in teaching, learning, and daily life for lecturers and students at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU Hanoi. Within the framework of the project, both parties are implementing AI training courses for lecturers and students; developing and publishing a set of learning materials on digital competency frameworks and digital competency assessment tools. Students from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities will be among the first to participate in these training courses and directly benefit from the project's results.

Associate Professor Dr. Do Van Hung (Head of the Information and Library Science Department) shared more information about the AI application capacity building project jointly implemented by VNU-USSH and Meta.

The talk show "Ready to Embrace the Future – AI Guiding You?" concluded with a Q&A session, answering students' questions, and lively mini-games with attractive prizes.

The valuable knowledge and information shared by Professor Do Van Hung and Professor Tran Duc Hoa from the Faculty of Information and Library Science at the talk show was a gift from the University to all new students on their first days at the Hanoi University of Humanities. Throughout their studies and time at the university, the University will organize many more inspiring talk shows to ensure that each Humanities student is not only knowledgeable but also possesses strong skills, confidence, and is ready to integrate into the global community.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Do Van Hung and MSc. Tran Duc Hoa took a commemorative photo with the new students of cohort K69.
