AI and UR: The Secret to Using AI Smartly, Legally, and Ethically

Friday - August 30, 2024 04:40
Surprised, new, interesting and extremely useful are the feelings of all new students of K69 of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU-USSH) after attending the inspirational talk show: "AI and UR (AI and you/us): Ready for the future - AI leads the way for you?" with the participation of 2 speakers: Associate Professor, Dr. Do Van Hung, Master. Tran Duc Hoa from the Faculty of Information - Library, during the Integration Week of VNU-USSH New Students (from August 26-30, 2024).

What is AI? How can AI help you in life?

In today's technological world, artificial intelligence (AI) is gradually becoming an indispensable part and participating in all aspects of social life. The appearance of AI tools, with all the capabilities such as: writing, solving math problems, designing images,... has made users very excited, especially young people.
With the speaker's multiple choice question: What is AI and what tools and applications have you used that use AI? Nearly 500 students in the Hall chose the answer: AI (Artificial Intelligence) means artificial intelligence, this technology simulates human thoughts and knowledge acquisition process; and each student when they were still a student had installed and used at least 1 AI application and tool for studying and entertainment.
In the last decade, the emergence of Generative AI is considered the most groundbreaking development in AI. GEN AI focuses on the ability to create new and diverse content based on initial input data.

The Basic Components of AI

According to Associate Professor Dr. Do Van Hung, currently in the world there are hundreds of AI applications and tools developed by technology corporations.

Popular AI applications today

Among them, the most popular applications include: Chat GPT, Gemini, Midjourney, Canva AI, Copilot, etc. In particular, students can completely install the free version to serve their learning and entertainment needs.

The GPT Chat application (chatbot) is known as the smartest AI in the world. GPT Chat is capable of answering questions, writing text, translating languages, and even participating in complex conversations. With knowledge in many fields, users' questions and concerns are answered in just a few seconds.
Gemini is one of the latest free AI tools developed by Google. Built on the basis of deep learning models, Gemini is capable of understanding, analyzing and interacting with many different types of data such as images, text, audio, etc., thereby helping users create smart applications that suit their needs.
As a free AI image-generating software, Midjourney allows users to create a series of photos with just a few lines of verbal or text description. You just need to provide information about the photo you need, Midjourney will automatically generate the corresponding image in just a few minutes.
Canva AI is an extremely popular and widely used image editing and design tool today.
So AI can do many things, especially processing huge data warehouses to provide very fast and accurate analysis.

So can AI completely replace humans and what will students do when they graduate when AI has become so popular?

That is the question most new students are interested in, even expressing concern.
Through in-depth analysis and specific examples, Associate Professor Dr. Do Van Hung helps students gain a deeper understanding of the role and application of AI in their lives, studies, careers and personal development. In fact, technology corporations around the world will continue to innovate to make GEN AI smarter and friendlier, but there are still limits that AI cannot reach.

In his presentation, Associate Professor Dr. Do Van Hung suggested “secrets” to be able to use AI in a “smart, responsible, legal and ethical” way. One of the important keywords: “create smart prompts”, because when you give the question accurately, specifically and with quality, the result returned to you will be a perfect product of an expert, exactly as you expect.
From now on, each student equipping themselves with knowledge and capacity in using AI in studying, scientific research, or startups will be a huge advantage, especially when after graduation, they will participate in the labor market with many competitions and strict requirements from employers.

Hanoi University of Humanities students will have the opportunity to participate in training courses on AI application capacity in 2025.

The sharing of MSc. Tran Duc Hoa about the AI application capacity enhancement project implemented by VNU-USSH and Meta received the attention and excitement of many students. The project aims to enhance the understanding and capacity to apply artificial intelligence in teaching, learning and daily life of lecturers and students of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU. Also within the framework of the project, the two sides will jointly implement AI training courses for lecturers and students; build and publish a set of learning materials on the digital competency framework and digital competency assessment tools. Students of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities will be the first to participate in these training courses and directly benefit from the results of the project.
