Dear female and male students!
Typhoon Yagi disrupted the opening ceremony and freshman orientation plans of the faculty and students of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities. Like the students, the faculty and staff are truly regretful about the cancellation of a heartwarming annual event that was supposed to be held on the full moon of the eighth lunar month this year.
The regret, however, was just a fleeting, everyday emotion. It was quickly replaced by the warmth of human kindness, with thoughtful greetings and timely fundraising activities, driven by "national solidarity and brotherly love," as Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh called for. The school canceled the opening ceremony and integrated the funds into the donations: 200 million VND was sent to the people through the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and Vietnam National University, Hanoi; 348 million VND reached 116 students of the school facing difficulties due to the storms and floods; and over 1 billion VND donated by partners for students in the new academic year 2024-2025 will continue to be considered and awarded by the school to students with excellent academic achievements, policy beneficiaries, and those in difficult circumstances...
We sincerely thank the faculty and staff for their understanding and flexibility in adjusting the unit's teaching plan to adapt to the natural disaster! We are also grateful to our partners for their enthusiastic support of the staff and students of the Faculty of Humanities during this difficult time at the beginning of the academic year! Thank you to the students for their cooperation with the University in changing the freshman orientation plan that they had meticulously prepared over the past few weeks! We have decided to cancel the opening ceremony but postpone the freshman orientation party to a more suitable time – perhaps when the autumn sun in Hanoi is brighter, the weather in the capital is more autumnal, and the university atmosphere is more familiar to the new students!
On the occasion of the new academic year 2024-2025, on behalf of the School's leadership team, we wish all teachers, partners, and students good health, happiness, and success!
