Monday - December 30, 2024 02:22
On the morning of December 30, 2024, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU-USSH) held the opening ceremony of a training course with the theme "Breakthrough with GEN AI in teaching and research". The course aims to equip lecturers with the necessary knowledge and skills to apply generative artificial intelligence (GEN AI) in the teaching and scientific research process.
GEN AI – A Breakthrough Tool in Teaching and Research
Speaking at the opening of the training course, Prof. Dr. Hoang Anh Tuan - Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities shared: GEN AI is one of the breakthroughs of artificial intelligence in recent years, not only helping to optimize the teaching process, but also creating new opportunities in scientific research, expanding creativity and discovery in many fields of social and humanities research. Modern AI tools such as ChatGPT, GPT-4, or other deep learning models, will help lecturers easily build lectures, create learning materials, design smart tests, as well as support scientific research through analyzing big data and text more effectively and accurately. “Digital transformation and technology application have been mentioned for a long time, but not all training institutions have taken specific, practical and effective steps. Although not having strengths in the field of technology, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, with the support of Meta Group, has become the first unit to build and issue a Digital Competency Framework for students (end of 2023), which has been referenced by more than 150 universities. The University of Social Sciences and Humanities is also a unit that has contributed a lot to the Ministry of Education and Training in developing a Circular to issue a Digital Competency Framework for learners in the national education system. In addition, the University has just officially accepted and put into use the MOOCs electronic lecture with the Basic Informatics course. The lecture is built on a modern technology platform, integrating multimedia elements such as sharp videos, vivid sounds and easy-to-use interactions, packaged according to SCORM standards, ensuring smooth operation on learning management systems. (LMS) and is highly compatible with the internet, contributing to improving sustainability in the implementation of digital and personalized training".

“This is not a course to train how to use a regular software, but about an extremely intelligent application that changes every day and every hour. Therefore, instead of equipping specific operations, the highest goal of the course is to equip the thinking, methods, and approaches to a new technology so that teachers and students can apply it creatively and effectively in their practical work. During the course, experts will design specific, personalized practice exercises so that right after the end of the course, students can grasp the most basic principles as well as how to turn AI into a truly effective tool” – Assoc. Prof. Dr. Do Van Hung emphasized.
According to the Organizing Committee, the training course received the attention and registration of 150 lecturers and more than 600 students not only from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities but also from several schools in VNU: University of Law and University of Economics.
