On April 22-23, 2023, the 304th High School Student Assessment Exam (HSA) of the Vietnam National University, Hanoi was held in Hanoi, Thai Nguyen, Hai Phong, and Nghe An. At the exam site at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, preparations for the exam were complete.
Candidates should note the following exam schedule:
Many candidates have contacted the VNU Examination Center for advice regarding the exam. To best prepare for the exam, students should pay special attention to the following points:
How can I use an electronic map to find my exam location most easily?
Please log in to your exam registration account, go to section 4 - Lookup to find out the exact time, location, and exam registration number for your exam session. All exam locations are announced on the portal.https://hsa.edu.vnIn the SEARCH section, under Exam Locations, use the "Electronic Map Directions" feature on your smartphone to find the correct exam location.

Can I use my ID card or passport to register for the HSA exam?
NO! Since 2022, the Ministry of Public Security has unified national data and issued Citizen Identity Cards (CCCD) to citizens. To standardize exam data and integrate with the university admissions software and the Ministry of Education and Training's virtual filtering system, the HSA exam system only accepts candidates using 12-digit CCCDs for registration. The HSA exam is held in multiple sessions over a long period, so candidates should take the time to obtain a CCCD for the HSA exam and the upcoming high school graduation exam. Each candidate can only use one unique CCCD to register one exam account. The exam system will recognize the photo and check for duplicate CCCDs. Accounts that intentionally use duplicate CCCDs or CCCDs belonging to others to register for the exam will be locked and banned from taking the exam.
If I lose or misplace my citizen identification card before the exam, what documents can I use to take the exam?
If you lose your citizen identification card before the exam, please contact the local police station to request a personal identification confirmation document for the exam. At the exam site, the invigilator will take your photo for verification and to identify you as a candidate.
What am I allowed to bring into the exam room?

I failed to log in for the exam even though I entered the correct password?
The HSA exam registration system is very tightly secured. Most candidates will leave their login password saved automatically on their computer (or phone). Changing your computer (or phone) password may affect your HSA account login password. Please write down your correct account and password and keep it safe. If you forget your password, use the "Forgot Password" function to reset it. Please take 3 minutes to read/view and follow the password recovery instructions at [link/website].https://hsa.edu.vn/huong-dan/dang-ky-thi
What is a song code?
According to the exam registration instructions, candidates select the following in order: Exam - Exam Session - Exam Location - Exam Session. Therefore, the exam session will be the last step recorded by the computer. If there is any discrepancy in the exam session information, the registration system will correct it to the correct session after automatic verification. The exam session information includes two codes: EXAM SESSION, EXAM LOCATION, EXAM DATE, and EXAM TIME. The exam session code does not change even if the exam session or location is incorrect. For example, exam session code 301.TKT.10-03.S1 means exam session 301, exam location TKT (Vietnam National University, Hanoi Examination Center), exam date 10-03, morning session. The exam location code is the university's admission code, consisting of 3 alphanumeric characters as stated in the Admission Plan (see the Admission Plan of the higher education institution or the Exam Location section for more information).
I registered for an account correctly, but I lost my Citizen Identification Card (CCCD) and am in the process of getting a new one. Can I bring my new CCCD to the exam on the day of the test?
If you lose your Citizen Identification Card (CCCD) and need a replacement, and the personal information on the new CCCD (full name, date of birth, gender, place of origin, and the 12-digit CCCD number) remains unchanged from the old one, you can bring the new CCCD to the exam. The exam organizing department can scan the information from the QR code to verify it. If you lose your CCCD before the exam date and don't have time to get a new one, you must have a confirmation letter from the local police (commune/ward). The police confirmation letter must have a photo attached and a seal overlapping the photo of the exam candidate. Any cheating or dishonesty regarding exam information will result in being banned from the exam and disqualifying you from participating in the HSA exam.
How long after the exam will I receive my results?
Immediately after completing the exam, the candidate's score will be displayed on the computer screen. After 14 days, the Certificate of Exam Results will be sent to the candidate via registered mail. Please ensure you have entered the correct mailing address and are ready to receive a phone call from the mail carrier. The mailing address does not necessarily have to be the address on your Citizen Identification Card (CCCD).
I've never used a computer and I'm not familiar with it. Can I still take the HSA exam on a computer?
YES! Taking the exam on a computer is very simple. You only need to know how to use a computer mouse to do well on the exam. If you have never used a keyboard or computer before, please ask the invigilator for guidance. After 2 minutes of instruction, you will know how to answer using the mouse and keyboard before logging into your computer-based exam account.
If I'm studying in a different subject area, can I still take the HSA exam?
YES! All high school graduates can take the HSA exam and achieve good results. Most students born before 2007 have already chosen or are currently pursuing different academic tracks, so they all have a similar starting point. What you can do to achieve a higher score than expected is to try the HSA sample exam to develop a serious study plan and fill in any knowledge gaps before the actual exam.
How are scores from the Vietnam National University, Hanoi (HSA) aptitude test converted to scores from the Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City (APT) aptitude test?
According to research results, from 2023, the score of the Hanoi National University's Competency Assessment Test (HSA) can be converted to the score of the Ho Chi Minh City National University's Competency Assessment Test (APT) using the expression: HSA = 0.1103 x APT. This formula is recommended for application to the HSA score range of Hanoi National University from 60 to 135 corresponding to the APT score range of Ho Chi Minh City National University from 500 to 1,100 and vice versa with an error of 5% (Journal of Educational Science, Vol. 19, No. 01 (2023) 9-13).
Does the competency assessment test offer bonus points based on region or candidate category?
The VNU-Hanoi Testing Center is tasked with organizing the High School Assessment Exam (HSA) and issuing certificates of exam results; it does not conduct university admissions, therefore the exam results certificate does not include priority points. The addition of priority points (regional, subject-specific), if any, is decided by the universities (similar to admissions based on other international certificates such as SAT, ACT, IELTS...). Candidates should review the admissions plan of the university they will be applying to in order to determine if priority points are applicable.
What is the time limit for the aptitude test?
The National University of Hanoi's High School Competency Assessment (HSA) test is designed as a standardized test and has no expiration date. Depending on the intended use, organizations may require a time limit. The VNU Testing Center recommends that organizations use the test results within 36 months from the test date. Candidates should contact the organizations using the HSA results for further information regarding deadline requirements.
