On the side of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU, there were representatives from the Department of Cooperation and Development, the Department of Training and the Department of Scientific Research Management; leaders of the departments of Oriental Studies, Linguistics and Political Science.
On the side of Renmin University of China, there were Prof. Wu Fulai - Vice Chairman of the University Council, along with representatives of the leaders of faculties, institutes and representatives of the leaders of the International Cooperation Department.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dao Thanh Truong said: In 2023, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities worked and signed MOUs with more than 60 research institutes and universities in China.
At the meeting, Associate Professor, Dr. Dao Thanh Truong shared information about the school, affirming: With its position as a pioneering training and research institution in the field of social sciences and humanities, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities has been promoting the development of basic sciences and expanding to applied sciences.
With 28 Bachelor's programs, 36 Master's programs, 32 Doctoral programs, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities has received special attention from universities and research institutes in China. In 2023 alone, there will be nearly 200 Chinese students studying at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (Faculty of Linguistics, Faculty of Vietnamese Studies and Language, Literature, History, Sociology, International Studies, etc.). Chinese students coming to study at VNU - USSH are not only guaranteed the quality of teaching, but also supported with accommodation, health care services as well as cultural experiences and scenic spots in Vietnam.
In particular, during the recent cooperation exchange and signing ceremony between Vietnam and China, students from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, one of two schools under VNU, were able to interact and exchange with the First Lady of China, Peng Liyuan.
Prof. Wu Fulai - Vice President of the Council of Renmin University of China said: "Cooperation between the two universities is the people-to-people exchange between the two countries"
Prof. Wu Fulai expressed his gratitude for the goodwill of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, and shared: Renmin University of China has a long history, and is the foundation for the training and research management mechanism of many universities nationwide. With the educational concept of training talents for the country, Renmin University of China has been in the top rankings of universities in China as well as in the world for many years.
With more than 5,300 staff, lecturers, more than 20,000 students and 2,000 international students, Renmin University of China has more than 14 faculties, many of which are similar to the University of Social Sciences and Humanities such as Sociology, Journalism and Communication, Philosophy, etc.
On the occasion of the visit of General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping, which took place along with the 15th anniversary of the establishment of the Comprehensive Strategic Cooperation Partnership between Vietnam and China, Prof. Wu Fulai wished to re-sign the cooperation agreement and welcomed students and lecturers of VNU - USSH to work and study at Renmin University of China.
“Cooperation between the two schools in researching practical aspects of society is a direct contribution to the development of both countries - going beyond normal training cooperation” - Professor Wu Fulai shared.
At the meeting, the two sides had frank and positive discussions on credit recognition between the two sides. In particular, the People's University of China paid special attention to the care and accommodation of students in the two countries, and expressed the desire to soon have opportunities for student exchange between the two schools.
The leaders of the departments and institutes of the People's University of China also shared: Lecturers of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities will be supported to study suitable majors at the doctoral and post-doctoral levels. Accordingly, the People's University of China will send lecturers to teach at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities in majors within the framework of cooperation between the two universities.
The two sides also agreed on a number of joint research topics such as Marxism, the rule of law state and law. In particular, the research on economic development models and social management was of interest to the representatives of the faculty leaders, who proposed to organize a large-scale international conference in the coming time.
Dr. Phan Van Kien - Director of the Institute of Journalism and Communication expressed his goodwill to invite the People's University of China to participate in writing a paper at the international conference on digital economy in journalism and communication held in 2024.
Dr. Nguyen Thi Thu Huong - Deputy Head of the Faculty of Oriental Studies proposed a student exchange with the Academy of Cultural Exchange of Peoples, Renmin University of China.
