Collaboration in archival science between the University of Social Sciences and Humanities and the Jeonnam Research Institute

This morning, June 11, 2025, representatives from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU-USSH) and the Jeonnam Institute (JNI), South Korea, held a meeting and signed a memorandum of understanding for cooperation in various areas.
During the meeting, representatives from the Jeonnam Research Institute expressed their honor in having the opportunity to collaborate with the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU Hanoi - one of Vietnam's leading universities in research and training in social sciences and humanities.
Representatives from VNU-USSH and JNI discussed and agreed on cooperation in various fields, particularly in archival science and the digital transformation of archival documents generated by local communities, especially those with rich cultural traditions in Vietnam.
Dr. Kim Hyun Chul - Vice President of the Jeonnam Research Institute, at a meeting with the leadership of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi.
Dr. Cam Anh Tuan, Head of the Department of Archival Studies and Office Management at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, emphasized the opportunities for cooperation in research and training in the field of archival science.
Accordingly, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities and the Jeonnam Research Institute will collaborate on developing a KOICA project proposal, implementing joint research initiatives and academic events in key areas such as archival science, public record management, and local heritage documentation. In addition, the two sides will conduct exchanges of scholars, researchers, and experts to support project development and enhance academic achievement.

Archival science and office management is one of the strong research areas of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, with many promising research directions, such as document digitization and organizational data management, archiving in the context of e-government and smart cities, soft skills and organizational psychology in modern office management, systematization of national intellectual heritage and community memory…
These studies not only have scientific value but also have the potential to solve practical problems such as: storing citizen records, managing business documents, preserving national documentary heritage... for organizations, businesses, and localities.
VNU-USSH and JNI are expected to collaborate on research into the digital transformation of archival materials generated by local communities, particularly those in culturally rich areas of Vietnam.
