The Congress approved it.Report summarizing the 2017-2020 term and outlining the work plan for the 2020-2022 term.Accordingly, during the 2017-2020 term, the Party Branch of the History Department achieved many accomplishments in various aspects of its activities: political and ideological work; organizational and personnel work; training, textbook/lecture compilation; scientific research; Party building and leadership of mass organizations; and leadership of administrative and financial work.

In political and ideological work, the Party Committee and the Faculty Board not only focus on fulfilling tasks within the Faculty's Party members, staff, and faculty members, but also pay attention to political and ideological education for students, linking it to specific activities and integrating it into student scientific research activities and extracurricular activities such as internships, field trips, cultural events, and sports.
Under the close guidance of the Party Committee and the Faculty Board, the Faculty's personnel management has achieved many remarkable accomplishments. The Party Committee has coordinated well with the Party Committee and the University's Board of Directors, the Departments, and the Faculty's mass organizations in stabilizing and supplementing personnel, promoting the achievement of academic titles and degrees, and carrying out training and scientific research tasks for Party members and staff in the Faculty. The guidance on teaching and scientific research tasks for lecturers and administrative tasks for staff has been effective: 100% of lecturers and staff have achieved the title of advanced worker or higher; 7 full-time staff members are participating in teaching in a foreign language (English); 7 staff members from the Department of Vietnamese Communist Party History participate in the annual training and practical program for political theory lecturers. Many staff members have been sent on business trips and to participate in scientific conferences abroad in countries such as the Netherlands, Germany, Tanzania, South Korea, Japan, China, Singapore, the Philippines, Indonesia, and Cambodia…

Comrade Vu Van Quan presented the Report summarizing the 2017-2020 term and the work plan for the 2020-2022 term.
During the 2017-2020 term, the Faculty of History focused on strengthening the compilation of textbooks, lectures, and course outlines: 3 textbooks and 4 lectures were approved, 9 contracts for lecture and textbook compilation were signed, and 27 courses were revised and newly compiled. In 2019, the Faculty completed the task of evaluating the quality of the Bachelor of History program according to the AUN-QA curriculum evaluation standards. The Faculty adjusted the curriculum and outlines for 91 courses with 209 credits. During the past term, the Faculty of History conducted enrollment and training for the Bachelor of Cultural Studies program and the Master of Cultural Management program.
The Faculty of History has always affirmed its position as one of the leading centers for training and research in history in the country. Faculty staff have been leading and participating in many scientific projects at various levels: State level (18 projects), Hanoi National University level (7), University of Social Sciences and Humanities level (6), projects in cooperation with localities (5), projects funded by international funds (4).

In 2018 and 2019 alone, faculty members published 218 scientific works, including books, book chapters, and papers presented at scientific conferences. Notably, 20 works were published in foreign languages, some of which were published by prestigious international journals and publishers (with ISI/SCOPUS indexes).
Many full-time and part-time staff members of the Faculty have been awarded individual and collective prizes for outstanding research works. In 2019, the National Book Award Council awarded 1 A Prize, 1 B Prize, and 1 C Prize (out of a total of 27 prizes) to collective authors and individual authors who are staff members of the Faculty of History. Many research works and doctoral dissertations by staff members of the Faculty have received awards from the Pham Than Duyat History Foundation and the Dinh Xuan Lam History Foundation.
In 2018, 2019, and early 2020, the Faculty co-organized 8 conferences (4 international conferences, 3 national conferences, and 1 university-level conference) and 16 scientific seminars with the participation of reputable experts and scientists from Vietnam and abroad.

Student scientific research has achieved many good results. In the 2017-2018 academic year, the report that won first prize at the Faculty level went on to win first prize at the University level and third prize at the Ministry of Education and Training level. In the 2018-2019 academic year, two reports won first and second prizes at the University level and third prize at the Vietnam National University, Hanoi level. Currently, 60 students and student groups have registered to participate in student scientific research for the 2019-2020 academic year.
Promoting the spirit of solidarity and striving for international integration.
During the 2020-2022 term, the Party Committee and the Dean's Board of the Faculty of History outlined general and specific directions for all aspects of its activities. In particular, the Party Committee identified international integration, enhancing the teaching capacity of international training programs, and international publications as key tasks that needed to be thoroughly understood by Party members and staff of the Faculty, creating a breakthrough in its operations. The organizational structure of the departments was streamlined, with a focus on close coordination between the Faculty and the Center for Research and Promotion of Cultural Resources, the Center for Marine and Islands Studies, and the Museum of Anthropology in scientific research, training, and collaborative development.

In the coming years, the Department of History will focus on providing the necessary conditions and resources to conduct Bachelor of Cultural Studies programs; prepare for the training of Bachelor of Urban Studies and Doctor of Vietnamese Cultural History programs; publish numerous basic and foundational textbooks; and develop a comprehensive set of materials.Historical Studies SeriesContinue to promote international exchange and cooperation in teaching and scientific research; effectively carry out the work of developing new Party members; focus on upgrading facilities and finances, especially building and implementing a plan to reorganize the Faculty's Information and Documentation Room to meet the learning and research needs of lecturers and students of the Faculty of History in particular and the University of Social Sciences and Humanities in general.

On behalf of the Party Committee, Comrade Nguyen Van Kim - Secretary of the Party Committee of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities - stated: The Party Committee selected the History Department's Party Branch to hold the pilot Congress because the History Department is a unit with many achievements in all aspects of its activities and a long history. The University's Party Committee appreciates the discipline, seriousness, and practical implementation of all aspects of the History Department's activities.

According to the Party Committee Secretary, in the next term, the Party Branch of the Faculty of History needs to focus on several core tasks. Regarding organizational structure, consideration should be given to a streamlined and efficient structure to maximize the effectiveness of the faculty and students; the key point in the organizational structure is to create conditions for young Party members to become skilled experts. The Party Branch of the Faculty of History needs to grasp and leverage the strengths, potential, and advantages of the basic science – History – in the face of many difficulties and challenges. Regarding training, it should continuously innovate training methods to create attractiveness for the Faculty of History, expanding and effectively operating many academic disciplines: History, Urban Studies, and Cultural Studies.

Comrade Nguyen Van Kim assessed that the Party Branch of the History Department has a high spirit of consensus, and this valuable legacy of the History Department needs to be further promoted to build a scientific collective with continuity between generations. With the potential, position, and vision of the History Department, Party Secretary Nguyen Van Kim expressed confidence that the Party Branch of the History Department will excellently fulfill the tasks set out for the 2020-2022 term.
The Congress elected the Party Committee for the 2020-2022 term, consisting of 5 members: Comrade Vu Van Quan, Comrade Tran Thien Thanh, Comrade Do Thi Huong Thao, Comrade Pham Van Thuy, and Comrade Do Thi Thanh Loan. Comrade Vu Van Quan holds the position of Party Secretary, and Comrade Tran Thien Thanh is the Deputy Party Secretary.
