VNU-USSH Alumni Network: A Precious Love and Companionship with the University of Humanities

A new spring has arrived at Hanoi University of Humanities, brought by the warm and vibrant Tet atmosphere, by the bright pink peach blossoms on the doorstep, and by the firm handshakes and overflowing emotions of alumni on their reunion day at the school.
The alumni reunion on the occasion of the Lunar New Year 2025 (Year of the Snake) on January 15, 2025, was attended by representatives of the Board of Directors, leaders of faculties/institutes/departments, functional departments, and nearly 40 alumni of the university. Welcoming the return of the alumni, Professor Hoang Anh Tuan - Secretary of the Party Committee and Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities - shared his joy that the students of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities from years past have spread their wings to all corners of the world, making many contributions and achieving success in many fields.
Professor Hoang Anh Tuan congratulated the alumni of the Faculty of Humanities on their success in various fields.
Over the past decades, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU-USSH) has made significant strides. Amidst this transformation, the university has maintained its traditions while remaining in tune with the general trends of modern society. According to Rector Hoang Anh Tuan, the university currently offers 93 training programs at the undergraduate, master's, and doctoral levels, including 28 undergraduate majors. Essentially, whatever fields of study exist in the world within the social sciences and humanities, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities offers them, especially its unique "specialty" programs. The university's training programs are developed in an interdisciplinary and cross-disciplinary direction to meet the needs of society and the current trend of internationalization. Today's humanities students are dynamic, creative, and successful in many professional fields. The University of Social Sciences and Humanities is not lagging behind in the whirlwind of innovation in higher education in Vietnam and around the world.
Besides the faculty and staff of the university, alumni have made and continue to make significant contributions to the development of VNU-USSH, participating in the university's training, research, and collaborative development activities. Many alumni have become close partners, while many others remain as faculty and staff, contributing daily to the achievements of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities.
Rector Hoang Anh Tuan shared that VNU-USSH expresses its desire for the connection between the university and the alumni network to be long, wide, and strong, fostering cooperation, development, and success, especially in the series of special events leading up to the 80th anniversary of the Faculty of Literature to the 30th anniversary of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities.
Associate Professor Dr. Dang Thi Thu Huong - Vice Rector and a former student of the K36 cohort at the University of Hanoi, expressed the pride of the students and alumni of the Faculty of Humanities. This pride stems from studying at a leading university in the country in training and research in social sciences and humanities; from being taught and guided by esteemed professors in various fields; and from having a dynamic and creative alumni network holding important positions in government agencies, organizations, and businesses. Generations of students and alumni of the university always stand alongside current generations, providing numerous job opportunities, internships, practical experience, and access to valuable scholarships…
Vice Rector Dang Thi Thu Huong expressed her hope that alumni would participate in many activities to support the current generations of VNU-USSH students.
The meeting received many valuable suggestions from alumni for the development of the university. Expressing her pride in studying at the University of Hanoi, and later the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Ms. Khuc Thi Hoa Phuong - Director and Editor-in-Chief of the Vietnam Women's Publishing House; a former student of the K39 Literature Faculty, University of Hanoi, expressed her emotion at receiving the warm welcome from the university at the alumni meeting.
Ms. Khuc Thi Hoa Phuong stated that alumni are always ready to join hands with the university to promote soft skills training and in-depth professional expertise for students, helping them to be confident and dynamic when entering the labor market. Offering suggestions for building a united and developing alumni network, Ms. Hoa Phuong shared that each faculty/institute/department needs diverse and widespread communication channels to connect alumni from different generations.

Mr. Dong Manh Hung, Editor-in-Chief of the Voice of Vietnam Radio, a former student and visiting lecturer at the Institute of Journalism and Communication Training, shared that his family has had three generations studying at the university, from the University of Hanoi to the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, which is a great source of pride for his family. Mr. Hung expressed his joy at the changing and improving appearance of the university, and the increasing recognition of its scientific and educational prestige both domestically and internationally.
Mr. Hung stated that many generations of the university's alumni hold important positions at prestigious national media organizations, including the Voice of Vietnam Radio. There is a strong connection between the Voice of Vietnam Radio and the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, so his return to the University of Social Sciences and Humanities feels like returning to his beloved home. He and the alumni will wholeheartedly contribute their efforts and intellect to the development of the university as well as to the upcoming grand anniversary celebration.
Mr. Dong Manh Hung - Head of Editorial Board of Voice of Vietnam Radio, former student and visiting lecturer of the Institute of Journalism and Communication Training.
Tran Thi Thuy Nga - Deputy General Director of Dien Hong Nursing Home, a former student of the K50 class of the Faculty of Management Science, shared the good news that she will be awarding several valuable scholarships to students of the university.
Mr. Le Cong Nang - Director of Wondertour Company, a former student of the Information and Library Science Faculty, advised on building a student network with useful information channels and sponsored the alumni association with a website to connect alumni throughout the university.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Nhung - a former student of the K46 class of the Linguistics Faculty, Deputy Director of the Department of Politics and Student Affairs, Ministry of Education and Training, emphasized the importance of promoting the entrepreneurial spirit and the entrepreneurial ecosystem for VNU-USSH students.
Ms. Nhữ Thị Ngần - Director of Hanoi Tourism Investment Joint Stock Company, a former student of the K48 Tourism Department, hopes that alumni will participate more in sharing their experiences and work skills with the current generation of VNU-USSH students.
 
The alumni shared many valuable suggestions for improving the connection between alumni and the university, as well as with future generations of students.
The companionship of alumni in school activities and their support for generations of students over the years is a valuable resource contributing to the overall development of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi. The university sincerely appreciates and welcomes you back!
