The list of VNU-level science and technology tasks has been approved by the VNU Board of Directors to be included in the 2012 selection plan based on the advice and recommendations of the industry/interdisciplinary council. The task names, research objectives and expected products in this list are the basis for scientists to prepare the explanatory outline for registration in 2012.

On November 17, 2011, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi had the honor of welcoming His Excellency David Johnston, Governor General of Canada, to visit and attend the "Multicultural" Seminar within the framework of a state visit at the invitation of President Truong Tan Sang.

The scientific conference “Linguistics training and research in Vietnam – theoretical and practical issues” was held on November 11, 2011. This activity is part of the program to celebrate the 55th anniversary of the Linguistics Department and the 15th anniversary of the Linguistics Faculty.

On November 10, the Faculty of Literature organized a scientific conference with the theme “Reception of literature and art in Vietnam in the integration period”. The conference is one of the activities towards the 55th anniversary of the tradition of the Faculty of Literature. Attending the conference were Associate Professor Dr. Vu Duc Nghieu - Vice Principal of the School, lecturers, scientists inside and outside the school.

Scientific discussion with the theme “The contribution of socio-political organizations in the process of social policy making” organized by the Center for Policy Research (University of Social Sciences and Humanities) for two days 03-04/11/2011 at Bao Son Hotel – Hanoi. The discussion focused on clarifying the role of socio-political organizations in the process of policy making in Vietnam.

Towards the 38th anniversary of training tradition and 15 years of becoming an independent unit of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, on October 27, the Faculty of Library Information organized a Scientific Conference with the theme "Innovation and international integration of Vietnam's Information - Library Career". The conference was attended by 80 delegates who are scientists, experts, and managers from many different library information agencies across the country with a total of 50 presentations.

On the afternoon of October 18, at the Government Guest House, the International Economic and Cultural Exchange Club under the Center for WTO Studies and International Affairs, University of Social Sciences and Humanities and VIPTOUR Company under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism coordinated with the Office of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) Representative in Hanoi to organize an international scientific seminar on "Culture - Resources for Tourism Development".

Professor, People's Teacher Vu Duong Ninh introduces the book "Vietnamese People with the Sea" edited by Associate Professor, Doctor Nguyen Van Kim, The Gioi Publishing House, 2011.

The Global Conference on Social Work and Social Development will be held in Stockholm, Sweden from 8-12 July 2012. This conference is expected to welcome researchers, educators, policy makers and social service organizations in the field of social work and social development. The main purpose of the conference is to introduce and share new perspectives, knowledge as well as share lessons of success and failure in the field of social work and social development globally.

The scientific workshop with the theme "Social work training in market conditions and international integration: Perspectives - models - solutions" chaired by the Faculty of Sociology was held on September 22. This is the third workshop within the framework of the scientific and technological cooperation project under the Protocol "Innovation of social work in market economy conditions and international integration (Research on the experience of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam)".
