“The Path of Light” is a contest to learn about Ho Chi Minh’s ideology, hosted by the Hanoi National University Youth Union, aiming to celebrate the 128th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh’s birthday (May 19, 1890 – May 19, 2018). This is the third year the contest has been held, hosted by the University of Social Sciences and Humanities. Through this, the Organizing Committee hopes to create a useful playground to help union members and young people consolidate their knowledge and learn more about Ho Chi Minh’s ideology; thereby, motivating students to study and follow Uncle Ho’s teachings in their daily lives and work.
The final night of the contest was attended by the following guests: Mr. Truong Ngoc Kiem (Member of the Standing Committee of the City Youth Union, Secretary of the Youth Union of VNU), Mr. Tran Quang Hung (Deputy Head of the Youth Union of Hanoi City Youth Union), Dr. Tran Bach Hieu (Deputy Secretary of the Youth Union of VNU, Secretary of the Youth Union of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities - Head of the Organizing Committee), Mr. Hua Thanh Hoa (Vice President of the Student Union of VNU). The contest was also honored to receive the attention of the Board of Directors of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities when the final night had the presence of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hoang Anh Tuan (Vice Rector of the school).
Speaking at the competition night, Dr. Tran Bach Hieu - Secretary of the Youth Union of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Head of the Organizing Committee, said that the competition is truly an opportunity for students of the Vietnam National University, Hanoi to consolidate and enrich their knowledge of Ho Chi Minh's ideology. He also hopes that students will gain more experience through the rounds and that to reach the final round, all teams must try and make efforts because the opponents are all very strong.
Accordingly, before the final night of the competition, the teams had to go through 2 other rounds: Video and Essay, to select the 5 best teams to enter the final round. After going through the Essay round held on April 26, the Organizing Committee selected 5 teams to enter the final round, including teams from: University of Social Sciences and Humanities, University of Technology, University of Foreign Languages, University of Education and Faculty of Law - VNU.
In the final night, the teams will have to go through 3 rounds in different forms: Greeting, Knowledge and Eloquence. The jury of the competition night includes: Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen The Thang (former head of the Ho Chi Minh Ideology Department - Regional Political Academy I - Head of the jury), Dr. Nguyen Thuy Hang (Deputy head of the Ho Chi Minh Studies Department, University of Social Sciences and Humanities), Comrade Nguyen Manh Linh (Head of the Propaganda Department of the Hanoi Youth Union). Based on the performance of the teams through the three rounds, the jury will give points according to the specific criteria of each round.
The Greeting section aims to assess soft skills in communication, situation building, and storytelling to bring the audience to the characteristics of each school and faculty. Meanwhile, the Knowledge section is judged based on the understanding of the teams through answering multiple choice questions related to Ho Chi Minh's ideology. Finally, the Eloquence section will be judged based on the ability to respond to questions posed by the judges.
The atmosphere in the hall on the 8th floor of Building E was never less hot during the 2 hours of the final match. The whole space was filled with the cheers and encouragement of the students. Through each competition, the audience could clearly see the ability and unique colors that each team brought to the show.
Final results:
The organizers hope that the contest has helped union members and young people consolidate their knowledge of Ho Chi Minh's ideology, creating motivation for them to study and follow his teachings in their daily lives and work.
