During the meeting, Dr. Csicsmann László briefly introduced Corvinus University Budapest, focusing on the Faculty of Social Sciences & International Relations. Established in 1963, the Faculty has close ties with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and several other ministries in Hungary. Its main fields of study are international relations, political science, sociology, and communication science. Current research focuses on interdisciplinary issues in Europe such as integration, migration, political and economic shifts, corruption, minorities, and international development. The Faculty has affiliated institutes such as the Institute of World Economy; the Institute of International Relations; the Institute of Geography; and the Institute of Geoeconomics and Sustainable Development. Dr. Csicsmann László expressed his desire to develop cooperation between the Faculty of Social Sciences & International Relations and the University of Social Sciences and Humanities.
In response, Professor Pham Quang Minh expressed his pleasure in welcoming the delegation from Corvinus University Budapest. The Rector also briefly introduced the University of Social Sciences and Humanities and stated that the University shares many similarities with the Faculty of Social Sciences and International Relations of Corvinus University Budapest. Both universities offer training in fields such as political science, sociology, journalism, and communication. Both universities are interested in internationalization, especially strengthening international relations, promoting English-language teaching programs, and international publications. Both Vietnam and Hungary have been undergoing transitions and the completion of their economic and political institutions. These are solid foundations for the two sides to initiate bilateral cooperation as soon as possible.
Initially, Professor Pham Quang Minh proposed signing a bilateral memorandum of understanding; exchanging students and lecturers through 2+2 and 3+1 joint programs; and co-organizing international conferences on topics of common interest such as EU-ASEAN relations, comparative politics, and migration issues in Europe. Dr. Csicsmann László expressed his agreement with Professor Pham Quang Minh's proposals and stated that Corvinus University Budapest is ready to welcome Vietnamese students to study, research, and intern in Hungary. He also hoped to send Hungarian lecturers to Vietnam to learn from their experience and conduct research on political, economic, and cultural issues in Vietnam and Southeast Asia in general.
