Lunch Box Club for English is an English club for faculty and staff of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities. The club meets every Friday at lunchtime with the participation of representatives from the university administration, foreign professors, and international students.
The Lunch Box Club for English was established in May 2017, based on an idea from Professor Pham Quang Minh (the Rector of the University). Originating from the need to create an English-speaking environment for staff, the club connects those who love English and want to interact and share with colleagues on various issues in life and work. With the principle of "no Vietnamese" and the freedom for anyone to speak and express their views, the club attracts attention thanks to its series of interesting and diverse topics relevant to the lives of staff and faculty members, such as: your work experience, effective time management, building a service-oriented attitude in the university, work-life balance, solutions for building a research university, workplace etiquette, effective English learning methods, building good habits, and promoting traditional cultural values… The club's meetings also provide a platform for young lecturers to present and exchange new research ideas in English. The participation of foreign professors and students brings an interesting highlight and a fresh perspective on the main topic from a comparative viewpoint between Vietnamese and foreign cultures.
After a year of operation, the Lunch Box Club for English has helped many young staff members overcome their initial shyness and insecurity about English, gradually becoming more confident and achieving certain results in communication and English practice. With these achievements, the Lunch Box Club for English will continue to expand its presentation content and methods of experiencing English.
Following the presentation on the theme "My Dream," members of the Lunch Box Club for English held a small celebration to mark their first anniversary, reviewing the club's achievements over the past year and collaboratively developing a new activity plan for the Lunch Box Club for English in the future.
