Fostering leadership and management skills at the department level

Prof. Dr. Pham Quang Minh delivered the opening speech of the training course.

Speaking at the opening of the training course, Prof. Dr. Pham Quang Minh, the representative of the school's leadership, emphasized: this is an extremely important and necessary activity to improve the quality of the school's leadership team in the coming time, especially in the context of modern university management being identified as a key factor in the operation of universities in Vietnam. In fact, no one can imagine all the difficulties encountered when taking on the position of faculty leader. Because the knowledge and skills in management are diverse, rich, integrated and filled with practical experiences of each individual.

The school leaders also shared the challenges of teachers when taking on management positions in the educational environment - a university environment with many characteristics. The school is a research and training unit in social sciences and humanities, the management objects are highly qualified people, so management work cannot be imposed by administrative orders. To meet the standards of academic degrees, moral qualities and management experience, the leaders of the departments must not only be experts in their fields of expertise, but also have a good understanding of the fields of psychology, administration, science, technology, and must have a vision.

The Principal suggested that teachers participating in the training not only acquire scientific knowledge about management but also frankly discuss practical problems they are facing in their management activities to find solutions.
