On April 21, 2012, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities and the Intellectual Property Office jointly organized two events: a student scientific conference on intellectual property; and a competition for students on intellectual property. These activities were in implementation of the cooperation agreement in the field of intellectual property (IP) between the University of Social Sciences and Humanities and the Intellectual Property Office, signed by the leaders of both sides on August 5, 2010, on the occasion of World Intellectual Property Day 2012, and also to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the Intellectual Property Office (July 29, 1982 - July 29, 2012).

These activities were in implementation of the cooperation agreement in the field of intellectual property (IP) between the University of Social Sciences and Humanities and the Intellectual Property Office, signed by the leaders of both sides on August 5, 2010, on the occasion of World Intellectual Property Day 2012, and also to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the Intellectual Property Office (July 29, 1982 - July 29, 2012).The Student Scientific Conference on Intellectual Property took place on the morning of April 21, 2012, at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities. The conference brought together 26 scientific reports from students of Hanoi Law University, Hanoi Foreign Trade University, and the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, covering topics such as: - General knowledge of intellectual property and its protection; - Copyright and related rights, collective management of copyright and related rights; - Inventions, industrial designs, trademarks, trade names, geographical indications, unfair competition; - The relationship between objects of intellectual property rights; - Enforcement of intellectual property rights... Results: - First prize was awarded to student Duong Thi Thanh Ha (Hanoi Law University) for her topic "Signs that are not protected as trademarks – The current state of Vietnamese intellectual property law and some recommendations." - Second prize went to student Luu Thi Thanh Nga (University of Social Sciences and Humanities) with the topic "Comparison of patent application processing procedures in Vietnam and some countries around the world". - Third prize went to student Nguyen Thi Lieu Thu (Foreign Trade University) with the topic "Resolving disputes related to trademarks of Vietnamese enterprises in the context of international economic integration", and the group of students Dinh Thi Kim Hoan and Nguyen Thi Hong Nhung (University of Social Sciences and Humanities) with the topic "Inadequacies in handling unfair competition related to industrial property rights in Vietnam". The Student Intellectual Property Competition took place on the evening of April 21, 2012 at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, with students from Hanoi Law University, Hanoi Foreign Trade University, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, and Hanoi University of Commerce participating. The purpose of the competition was: - To disseminate knowledge about intellectual property among students, and on that basis, to expand the dissemination of intellectual property in society. - To encourage students to learn about and enhance their understanding of intellectual property rights (IPR) – a crucial element in the knowledge-based economy and integration. - To create opportunities for interaction among "future managers" on an equal and friendly playing field. - The competition also provides an opportunity for future managers to interact with and learn about businesses, gaining experience and thus better understanding their work and future career choices. The competition content includes general knowledge of IPR, understanding businesses, and handling situations involving copyright and industrial property infringement. Results: - First Prize: Foreign Trade University - Second Prize: Commercial University - Third Prize: Hanoi Law University, University of Social Sciences and Humanities.
