From March 27th to 31st, 2012, a delegation from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities – Vietnam National University, Hanoi, led by Rector Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Khanh, visited and worked with several scientific institutions and organizations in Taiwan: Fu Jen University (Taipei), the Institute of Social Sciences – National Taiwan University, the Vietnam Economic and Cultural Office in Taipei, and National Kaohsiung University (Kaohsiung City).

From March 27th to 31st, 2012, a delegation from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities – Vietnam National University, Hanoi, led by Rector Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Khanh, visited and worked with several scientific institutions and organizations in Taiwan: Fu Jen University (Taipei), the Institute of Social Sciences – National Taiwan University, the Vietnam Economic and Cultural Office in Taipei, and National Kaohsiung University (Kaohsiung City).The purpose of the trip was to expand cooperation in the field of education with universities in Taiwan, supporting these universities in developing Vietnamese language programs, Vietnamese language quality assurance programs, and promoting the teaching and learning of Vietnamese for Vietnamese people living and working in Taiwan. Currently, according to statistics, there are approximately 85,000 Vietnamese people living in Taiwan, of which about 80% are Vietnamese brides. The number of Vietnamese people here is expected to continue to increase in the future due to the strong economic development in the region, leading to a growing demand for workers for Taiwanese businesses. The first institution the delegation visited and worked with was Fu Jen University in Taipei. This is one of the leading universities in the idea of ​​developing and implementing Vietnamese language quality assurance programs as well as developing Vietnamese language teaching programs from the elementary school level in Taiwan. Both sides agreed that the University of Social Sciences and Humanities would support and assist Fu Jen University with experience and materials for teaching and learning Vietnamese. On March 28, 2012, the delegation also visited and had a cordial conversation with Mr. Bui Trong Van – Chief Representative (Ambassador) of the Vietnam Economic and Cultural Office in Taipei – expressing their desire for the Office to support the development of Vietnamese language programs in Taiwan in the future. Chief Representative Bui Trong Van agreed and affirmed his full support for the development of Vietnamese language teaching programs at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities in Taipei.

Next, on the morning of March 29, 2012, Rector Nguyen Van Khanh and the delegation visited and worked at the Institute of Social Sciences, National Taiwan University, which is also one of Taiwan's leading institutions for training high-level officials. The Rector welcomed the delegation, and the two sides had a friendly and open working session. Both sides agreed to establish a cooperative relationship in the fields of social sciences, and especially to cooperate closely in research on social issues related to Vietnam and Taiwan. (Photo: USSH) On March 30, 2012, at National Kaohsiung University, the Rector signed a cooperation agreement on several areas of mutual interest, particularly the development of the Vietnamese language program. This is a key university for science and technology in Taiwan in general and southern Taiwan in particular. This year, the first cohort of students majoring in Vietnamese will graduate after four years of study at the university. Specifically, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities will cooperate with National Kaohsiung University to develop a standardized Vietnamese language curriculum, and will also send high-quality lecturers to work there in September 2012 to both teach and share their experience in teaching Vietnamese with teachers at National Kaohsiung University. The working visit of the delegation from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities – VNU Hanoi, led by Rector Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Khanh, concluded successfully. The university and scientific institutions in Taiwan have agreed on many important cooperation contents, and both sides are determined to implement them effectively in the coming time.
