New Year's meeting: Preparing the foundation for scientific activities to break through

Reviewing the school's activities in 2021, Principal Hoang Anh Tuan affirmed: despite many hardships and difficulties, teachers and students of all courses had to proactively adapt to the context of the Covid-19 pandemic, most of the school's activities had to be organized online, but the whole school still completed the school year's plan well with certain marks.

Regarding the work of unions and cadres, the Party Committee of the School successfully organized the 28th Party Congress, round 2; completed the leadership personnel of the departments and some units with a spirit of solidarity and high consensus; completed and successively issued documents of the Party and the government such as the Regulations on the operation of the Party Committee and Party committees, Regulations on coordination between the Party Committee and the Board of Directors, Regulations on decentralization of management, Regulations on internal expenditures, etc.

Training activities still ensure the progress of the school year and the quality of activities. Enrollment in all systems has met and exceeded the target, of which undergraduate enrollment reached 120%, Master's reached 99.7%, and Doctoral reached 125%. This result proves that the training majors/specializations of the University still maintain a strong attraction for candidates and society. Teachers and students are increasingly adapting to online teaching, promoting the advantages of information technology to effectively serve teaching work.

Regarding scientific research, the University's scientific staff continued to implement the assigned State-level scientific tasks on schedule and with quality; 78 international publications were awarded with higher rewards than the previous year. In particular, the University has just issued the Regulations on basic-level scientific research topics with amendments towards increasing the investment level for each topic, encouraging international publications, prioritizing staff who are doing research and standardizing academic titles and degrees. The amended regulations on supporting staff with international publications are being finalized and will be issued in the near future. The regulations aim to create a new policy mechanism to bring the University's international publications to a new level of development, improve the scientific capacity of the staff, meet the requirements of university rankings and international integration. These new regulations are considered the basic foundations for the University's scientific activities to make breakthroughs in the coming period.

The conference also recorded the opinions exchanged from the leaders of the units on the following issues: the policy to promote international publication of the University needs to be consistent and compatible with the regulations and general policies of VNU; along with the reward policy on international publication, it is necessary to have strict regulations on sanctions for staff who do not complete their research tasks; promote the translation of books, textbooks, and scientific works of the world to serve research and training; information work on the policies, guidelines, and personnel work of the University needs to be more timely and transparent; promote the work of connecting alumni...

After receiving comments from the units, Principal Hoang Anh Tuan concluded on the key tasks that need to be completed in the coming month. In particular, the School continues to strengthen and deploy epidemic prevention work, thoroughly instruct staff to strictly comply with the State's epidemic prevention regulations, and first complete the third vaccination for staff in January 2022. Staff are proactive, flexible, adaptive and increase the handling of work online to ensure work efficiency. Assign the Training Department and the Center for Training and IT Application to develop reports and plans for using online teaching platforms to submit to the Board of Directors; the Student Affairs and Student Affairs Department deploys methods to support students during the epidemic season. The School will soon complete the issuance of decisions on supporting international publications, projects to organize international scientific conferences for young staff and PhD students....

Principal Hoang Anh Tuan also sent New Year greetings to all staff, teachers and their families, and expressed his hope and determination: in 2022, the spirit of solidarity, innovation and breakthrough of the school's staff will bring more successful marks to the University of Social Sciences and Humanities.
