Professor Nguyen Van Khanh visited and worked at the University of South Australia

Within the framework of the Protocol signed between the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (Vietnam National University, Hanoi) and the University of South Australia (University of South Australia-UniSA) on technology transfer activities, the Australian organizational model suitable for Vietnam in the context of international integration and at the official invitation of the University of South Australia, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Khanh (Principal of the University) led a delegation to visit and work in Australia from December 16-23, 2014.

The delegation of the School includes Associate Professor, Dr. Tran Van Hai (Head of the Faculty of Management Science), Dr. Dao Thanh Truong (Deputy Head of the Faculty of Management Science), and Master Nguyen Minh Nguyet (Foreign Affairs Department - International Cooperation).

Established in 1991, the University of South Australia (UniSA) is an international university with more than 34,000 students, of which nearly one-third are international students from 88 countries around the world. With more than 20 years of operation, UniSA is ranked 23rd in the world (3rd in Australia) among universities under 50 years old by QS World University Ranking. UniSA has 5 main campuses with modern teaching and learning facilities designed to meet the development needs of an international university: City West Campus, City East Campus, Magin Campus, Mawson Lakes Campus and Whyalla Campus. UniSA is also famous for its 8 research institutes, 13 research centers and a staff of up to 2,287 people. UniSA has over 300 majors, taught in 4 affiliated schools - School of Commerce; School of Education, Arts and Social Sciences; School of Medicine; School of Information Technology, Engineering and Environment.

During the working trip to the University of South Australia, the delegation worked with Professor Kurt Lushington (Principal) and Ms. Sue Johnston (Head of International Cooperation of the School of Education, Arts and Social Sciences, University of South Australia). During the meeting, Professor Kurt Lushington was particularly interested in the possibility of the two schools collaborating to open a joint master's program in the future.Public policyin the spirit that the University of South Australia will design the curriculum, send lecturers to participate in training, and award degrees to students. Thus, students graduating from the course will meet the output standards and receive a degree from the University of South Australia. In addition, Prof. Kurt Lushington also agreed to send textbooks and reference materials on the field of technology transfer research in Australia to the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, as well as to be the link between professors and training units in the University of South Australia that have strengths in the field of technology transfer with the University of Social Sciences and Humanities - Vietnam National University, Hanoi, because Australia is a country that is very developed in science and technology and has achieved many great achievements in supporting and transferring those advanced science and technology fields to developing countries like Vietnam.

In addition, according to the agreement between the leaders of the two schools, around April next year, the University of South Australia will send lecturers to organize seminars and teach at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities on a number of issues related to the field of technology transfer: Experiences of Australia and some countries in the world; at the same time, attend the scientific conference celebrating the 40th anniversary of unification, integration and development of Vietnam.

During the above-mentioned working trip, the delegation also had a working session with Mr. Stan Astachnowicz, Head of International Cooperation Department of the University of Commerce, University of South Australia. During the meeting, Mr. Stan Astachnowicz was very interested in the possibility that in the coming time, when the Community of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) is established in 2015, the University of Commerce, University of South Australia, can cooperate with the University of Social Sciences and Humanities to open joint training programs to attract students not only in Vietnam but also students from countries in the region.

The working visit to the University of South Australia by the delegation of the University led by Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Khanh ended successfully and opened up specific contents in cooperation on research and training links between the two schools in the coming time.
