On April 7, 2012, the Party Committee of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities held its 2012 Party work conference.The Conference was attended by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Phung Xuan Nha (Alternate Member of the Central Committee of the Party, Member of the Hanoi City Party Committee, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee - Deputy Director of Vietnam National University, Hanoi), representatives of the Party Committee's departments of Vietnam National University, Hanoi, and members of the Party Committee, Board of Directors, Chairman of the Trade Union, Secretary of the Youth Union, President of the Student Association of the University, and Party committees of the branches, leaders of units and directors of centers. The Conference heard and discussed the following reports:
- Understanding the new points in the Guidelines for Implementing the Party Charter of the 11th National Congress and the Resolution of the 4th Central Committee Meeting of the 11th term: some urgent issues in Party building today; understanding the 19 things that Party members are not allowed to do, presented by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Xuan Hang (former Rector of the University).
- Report summarizing the activities of the School's Party Committee in the first quarter of 2012 and some key tasks for the second semester of the 2011-2012 academic year.
- Report on the University's four work programs for the period 2012-2015: - Building and developing a qualified staff during the period 2012-2015, rapidly integrating the University into the group of advanced universities in the region; - Building and developing majors and specializations to international standards to meet the needs of training high-quality human resources to serve the cause of industrialization and modernization of the country; - High-quality research to serve training and meet the development needs of the country; - University governance reform program, gradually moving towards an advanced university governance system.
The conference unanimously agreed with the four work programs of the University for the period 2012-2015; and also provided specific feedback on the content of each program. Speaking at the conference, Comrade Phung Xuan Nha highly appreciated the Party work of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities and the four work programs for the period 2012-2015; the University of Social Sciences and Humanities needs to continue focusing on successfully completing its strategic tasks. Concluding the conference, Professor Dr. Nguyen Van Khanh – Secretary of the Party Committee – affirmed that the four work programs for the period 2012-2015 are fundamental requirements and tasks of the University; functional departments should incorporate the conference's feedback and revise the four programs for implementation. In the coming period, the entire university needs to focus on successfully implementing three basic tasks:
- Complete the conversion of undergraduate and postgraduate training programs.
- Successfully fulfilling strategic tasks.
- Further strengthen efforts to improve discipline and cultural conduct in schools.
