The Association of Former Teachers successfully organized the 3rd Congress of Delegates (term 2017-2022)

Attending the congress were representatives of the VNU Alumni Association: Prof. Dr. Dinh Van Duc (Chairman), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Huy Ho (Vice Chairman); representative of the Board of Directors: Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Thi Minh Hoa (Vice Principal); representative of the Party Committee and the University's Trade Union: Dr. Ngo Thi Kieu Oanh - Standing Member of the Party Committee, Head of the Department of Organization and Personnel, President of the University's Trade Union; representative of the Youth Union of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities: Dr. Tran Bach Hieu (Secretary) and delegates representing 6 branches of the VNU Alumni Association.

The Association of Former Teachers of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities has the task of gathering, uniting and representing former teachers of the University; promoting the intellectual potential of members to participate in research, training and social activities.

Prof. Vu Duong Ninh (Chairman of the Association of Former Teachers of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Term II) summarized the Association's activities in 5 main areas.

First of all, the Association always focuses on organizing and bringing activities into order and efficiency. The Association has contributed opinions to the "Regulations on the Activities of the Association of Former Teachers of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities", discussed internally the working regulations of the Association's Executive Committee, reviewed and improved the operating apparatus of the affiliated branches.

In addition, the work of visiting and encouraging members in difficult circumstances or visiting and exchanging on holidays and organizing longevity celebrations for elderly former teachers is carried out thoughtfully, contributing to strengthening the affection of members.

As veteran teachers and scientists, teachers still have the opportunity to promote their abilities and qualities to contribute to common activities.

As teachers and scientists in many fields, former teachers of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities continue to promote their professional capacity through organizing scientific seminars, typically: "Uncle Ho with the School" - on the occasion of the 45th anniversary of the day President Ho Chi Minh sent his last letter to the education sector; "Seventy years of the tradition of the University of Literature" - on the occasion of the anniversary of the day President Ho Chi Minh signed the decree to establish the University of Literature, the cradle of the scientific tradition of the School; "Sixty years of Hanoi National University" - to share memories and draw valuable lessons from the tradition of the famous predecessor school...

Trips to the source or visits to historical sites are an activity that receives much attention and appreciation from members. On the occasion of the 60th anniversary of Hanoi University, the Association organized a trip to visit Van Tho commune (Dai Tu, Thai Nguyen), where the two departments of Literature and History were evacuated during the resistance war against the US. Such meaningful trips left many beautiful memories and emotions in the hearts of members.

Prof. Dr. Vu Duong Ninh - Chairman of the Association shared about the Association's operational orientations in the new term.

In particular, the direct contributions of former teachers to the training and research activities of the School have always been recognized and highly appreciated by the Party Committee, the Board of Directors and generations of students. Despite their retirement, many teachers continue to teach, participate in scientific research projects, publish books, write articles in specialized journals, participate in thesis and dissertation evaluation boards, etc. Teachers constantly improve their knowledge and contribute their intelligence to the research and training career of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities.

On behalf of the school's leadership, Associate Professor, Dr. Tran Thi Minh Hoa expressed her gratitude for the contributions of former teachers of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities. The Association of Former Teachers and other social organizations have contributed to building the valuable tradition of the school. It is the unceasing continuity of both knowledge and affection between generations of teachers. It is the deep attachment of teachers to the development of the school regardless of time or age. Even though they have retired, the working spirit and dedication of former teachers of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities are admirable. With their contributions in research, training and social activities, former teachers have helped promote and expand the reputation and brand of the school to society.

On behalf of the VNU Alumni Association, Prof. Dinh Van Duc congratulated the Association on its successes in the past term and affirmed that the Association's activities are not only diverse, effective and meaningful, but also create an exciting, positive and united atmosphere in the community of former teachers.

The Congress elected the Executive Committee of the Association of Former Teachers of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities for the 2017-2022 term, consisting of 11 teachers. Professor, People's Teacher Vu Duong Ninh was trusted to continue holding the position of Chairman of the Association of Former Teachers of the University for the third term.

Some orientations for the Association's activities in the coming time approved by the delegates include: focusing on doing well the work of members, strengthening the campaign to register new members; strengthening the coordination of branches with the government and faculty unions to promote the role of the Association in the activities of the unit; organizing visits, sightseeing, scientific discussions with many diverse and effective forms, attracting more participation of members.
