In his keynote address at the conference, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Hoang Hai (Vice Director of Vietnam National University, Hanoi) highly appreciated the results achieved by the University in the past academic year. However, in the face of many difficulties and challenges today, the University needs to be more proactive in seeking solutions to promote development.

According to Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Hoang Hai, in the coming academic year, the University needs to focus on several solutions such as: promoting high-quality programs for majors that attract a large number of students; building and focusing investment on some cutting-edge research directions; paying attention to building the university's academic reputation among experts both domestically and internationally - this is a factor that greatly influences the ranking of the University in particular and the Vietnam National University, Hanoi in general in the future.

Professor Pham Quang Minh (Rector of the University) pointed out the challenges facing the University of Social Sciences and Humanities in the coming period.

In his concluding remarks at the conference, Professor Pham Quang Minh (Rector of the University) expressed his sincere gratitude to all staff and employees for their tireless contributions throughout the past academic year. Thanks to the contributions of the teachers and staff, the University has achieved many accomplishments in various aspects of its operations.

In the current context, Professor Pham Quang Minh emphasized seven groups of challenges affecting the development of the University. These include: shifting the university mindset from one focused on teaching to one centered on research; increasing enrollment while improving student quality; increasing the number of postgraduate and doctoral students while not neglecting market demands; balancing basic scientific research training with the practical application of training programs; balancing the challenges of the 4.0 revolution with the current limitations of the University's infrastructure; balancing restructuring and streamlining the organizational structure with the need to expand new training programs to meet the interests of staff; balancing building an elite university with a mass university; and balancing meeting national needs with achieving international standards.

To overcome challenges and continue to maintain and build upon these achievements in the next academic year, Professor Pham Quang Minh requested: "All faculty and staff of the university must further strengthen exchange and discussion to find solutions to overcome challenges and achieve the targets set for the 2018-2019 academic year."
