During the meeting, Dr. Chu Yi introduced the Academy of Journalism and Communication (ACJC) at Fudan University. The ACJC is China's leading journalism training institution, with 1,600 students, including 200 international students. It has four faculties: Journalism, Advertising, Communication, and Broadcasting; all four offer doctoral programs. The ACJC emphasizes the 2+2 training model, whereby students study at another faculty at Fujian University for two years before returning to the ACJC to complete their program. Dr. Chu Yi stated that the ACJC currently offers 20 postgraduate scholarships to countries participating in China's "Belt and Road Initiative." He expressed hope for a positive response from students of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities. He believes that the similarities between Vietnam and China will help Vietnamese students quickly integrate into the learning environment in China. He also invited representatives from the Board of Directors and staff of the Academy to visit the Academy's training facilities next year.
On behalf of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Associate Professor Tran Thi Minh Hoa expressed gratitude for the insights and suggestions from Dr. Chu Diec. The Vice Rector stated that on May 9, 2017, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities welcomed Professor Thach Nguyen Hoa (Director of the Center for Research on Relations between China and Neighboring Countries) from Fudan University. To expand areas of cooperation, the Vice Rector hoped that the two universities would soon sign a formal memorandum of understanding in the near future.
On behalf of the Faculty of Journalism and Communication, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dang Thi Thu Huong (Head of the Faculty) also shared information about the Faculty's activities. Currently, the Faculty is one of the two leading journalism training institutions in Vietnam, offering majors from bachelor's to doctoral levels. The Faculty is implementing a strategy to upgrade into an Institute of Journalism and Communication Training with main areas of focus being journalism and communication, multimedia communication, PR-Advertising, and media management. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dang Thi Thu Huong stated that the Faculty has collaborated with many Chinese partners, thus ensuring the Chinese language proficiency of its students. The Faculty will select suitable candidates to apply for the scholarship program proposed by the Academy. Furthermore, the Faculty hopes to cooperate with the Academy in organizing international scientific conferences, conducting joint research, and publishing internationally.
