At the meeting, Associate Professor Dr. Hoang Anh Tuan (Vice Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities) emphasized the University's strategy of internationalization and strengthening international cooperation, including relations with Chinese partners. Many Chinese students have studied majors such as International Studies, Vietnamese Studies and Vietnamese Language at both undergraduate and graduate levels within the framework of 1+3 and 2+2 training programs. Beijing Foreign Studies University is one of the University's important partners.
On behalf of Beijing Foreign Studies University, Mr. Hardy Huayong expressed his gratitude for the warm welcome of the Board of Directors of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities. He highly appreciated the potential for cooperation between the two prestigious universities of Vietnam and China. He proposed that the two sides strengthen exchanges and cooperation in all training and scientific research fields; promote student and lecturer exchanges. Beijing Foreign Studies University pledged to support tuition fees and job search for Vietnamese students studying in China.

The Vice President also affirmed that the University always welcomes and creates the best learning conditions for Chinese students in particular and international students in general.

On September 13, 2016, Minister of Education and Training Phung Xuan Nha and President of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities Pham Quang Minh visited and signed a cooperation agreement with Beijing Foreign Studies University, aiming to enhance cultural exchange between Vietnam and China; enhance cooperation in Vietnamese language training and research on Vietnamese culture; and train experts and scholars to research on Vietnam. On December 22, 2016, the Center for Vietnamese Studies was established at Beijing Foreign Studies University.
