Receiving and working with the delegation from Senshu University (Japan)

On December 29, 2017, Professor Pham Quang Minh (Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities), along with representatives from the Faculty of Oriental Studies, the Faculty of History, and the Office of Cooperation and Development, received and worked with a delegation from Senshu University (Japan) led by Professor Yoshiyuki Habuta (Faculty of Literature, Senshu University).

Senshu University is a private university founded in 1880 in Chiyoda, Tokyo, Japan. Senshu offers a wide range of majors including Law, Economics, Business Administration, Marketing, Accounting, Japanese Language, Japanese Literature and Culture, English and American Literature, Philosophy, History, Environment, and Journalism. Senshu University has had a collaborative relationship with the University of Social Sciences and Humanities since 1997. Over two decades, the two universities have jointly organized many practical and meaningful activities, especially in student, staff, and faculty exchanges.

On behalf of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Professor Pham Quang Minh highly appreciated the long-standing cooperation of Senshu University over the past 20 years. The Rector hoped that in the future, the two sides would further strengthen bilateral relations, especially the coordination of research between young faculty members. He also hoped that the cooperation between the two sides would create a unique characteristic compared to other partners from Japan. With its strength in the Department of Japanese Studies, a leading institution for Japanese education and research in Vietnam, the University is fully capable of meeting the needs and cooperation proposals from Senshu University.

In response, Professor Yoshiyuki Habuta expressed his gratitude for the goodwill of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities. He stated that the delegation from Senshu University visited the University to expand research on the cultural exchange between Vietnam and Japan within the context of East Asia. Senshu University hopes to continue its collaboration with the Department of Japanese Studies, as well as establish a relationship with the Department of Vietnamese Cultural Studies and Cultural History within the Faculty of History of the University. The Cooperation and Development Office will serve as the liaison between the two sides.

Following the working session, the delegation from Senshu University visited the Faculty of Oriental Studies and the Faculty of History at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities to discuss more specific cooperation options.
