Students and faculty attending the session were introduced to the guest speakers and listened to a sharing from an American mother about raising three children who are now adults. The topics were very broad, with discussions on: the division of responsibilities between parents in working and raising children; the differences between rural and urban lifestyles in America; how American mothers share love and care with their children; the differences in parenting styles between Eastern and Western cultures; teaching children independence as one of the prominent values of American culture; how American families build strong emotional bonds while still respecting the freedom of each individual…

In a friendly and open atmosphere, the students also shared with the guests about: their motivation for learning English, the challenges they face when learning English, effective ways to learn English, and their aspirations for their future careers…

Rebekah Jones and her three children, Margaret Jones, Isaac Jones, and David Jones, were special guests at the event.
With the increasing number of visiting professors and lecturers from abroad at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, the Lunch Box Club for English promises to have more extra sessions with the participation of many special and interesting guests. They will bring new perspectives and stories from their cultures and countries, thereby opening up opportunities for language and cultural exchange among the university's staff and students.
