Attending the ceremony, on behalf of Vietnam National University, Hanoi were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Kim Son (Member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Secretary of the Party Committee, Director of Vietnam National University, Hanoi), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Hoang Hai (Permanent Deputy Secretary, Permanent Deputy Director of Vietnam National University, Hanoi), and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Bao Son (Deputy Director of Vietnam National University, Hanoi).
Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Kim Son (Member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Secretary of the Party Committee, and Director of Vietnam National University, Hanoi) presented the appointment decisions to the new Secretary of the Party Committee and the new Board of Directors of the University.
On the side of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, there were generations of leaders from different periods: Prof. Dr. Phung Huu Phu (Permanent Vice Chairman of the Central Theoretical Council, former Secretary of the Party Committee of Hanoi National University, former first Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities); Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Quang Long (former Secretary of the Party Committee, former Rector of the University), Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Khanh (former Secretary of the Party Committee, former Rector of the University), Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Kim (former Secretary of the Party Committee, former Vice Rector of the University), Prof. Dr. Pham Quang Minh (former Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, former Rector of the University).
At the ceremony, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Tien Vinh (Deputy Head of the Personnel Organization Department, Vietnam National University, Hanoi) read the following decisions: Decision No. 789/QD-VNU-VNU, Decision No. 799/QD-VNU-VNU, signed by the Director of Vietnam National University, Hanoi on March 29, 2021, appointing Prof. Dr. Hoang Anh Tuan as Rector of the University and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dao Thanh Truong as Vice Rector; Decision No. 597/QD-VNU-VNU, signed by the Director of Vietnam National University, Hanoi on March 5, 2021, appointing Assoc. Prof. Dr. Lai Quoc Khanh as Vice Rector; and Decision No. 141/QD-DU, signed by the Secretary of the Party Committee of Vietnam National University, Hanoi on April 1, 2021, appointing Comrade Pham Xuan Thach as Secretary of the Party Committee of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities.

Speaking at the ceremony, Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Kim Son, on behalf of the Board of Directors of Vietnam National University, Hanoi, extended congratulations to the newly appointed colleagues at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities. The appointment decisions were made by the Standing Committee and the Board of Directors of Vietnam National University, Hanoi, after a process of objective and responsible review and evaluation. The Director of Vietnam National University, Hanoi, requested the leadership of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities to quickly consolidate the leadership system, build a framework of regulations and working principles that are strict and clear for all activities; and promote the spirit of unity and traditional humanistic values to help the University continue to operate effectively and develop in a manner worthy of its potential and the expectations of the collective.

Speaking on behalf of the University, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Xuan Thach (Party Committee Secretary) expressed gratitude to the generations of scientists and educators who have built the University's tradition of education, training, and research; thereby highlighting the need to maintain and firmly grasp the foundations and roots that previous generations have painstakingly cultivated to serve as the basis for the University's future development. In the context of the Fourth Industrial Revolution and the era of connectivity today, the University has even more opportunities to promote its role, improve the quality of education, and spread humanistic values in society. The Party Committee and the Board of Directors of the University are committed to continuing to strive and unite to further affirm the University's leading prestige and position in the field of training and research in social sciences and humanities, developing the University according to a research-oriented approach and the model of university autonomy.

Professor Hoang Anh Tuan (Rector of the University) also expressed his gratitude to the leaders of Vietnam National University, Hanoi and the generations of teachers and staff of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities who have contributed to building the "humanistic foundation" as it is today. In return for these sentiments, the new Standing Committee and Board of Directors are committed to continuing to work together to develop the University based on a thorough understanding of the orientation and unified viewpoints; and establishing principles of action in the spirit of: "unity of mind, comradeship, agreement, and solidarity." The University hopes to receive the attention and support of higher authorities, the cooperation and collaboration of partner units, as well as the trust, support, and joint efforts of all staff and employees of the University.

On March 29, 2021, the Director of Vietnam National University, Hanoi signed the following decisions:
- Decision No. 789/QD-VNU appoints Professor Hoang Anh Tuan, Vice Rector in charge, to the position of Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities. Professor Hoang Anh Tuan was born in 1976, received his PhD in History from Leiden University (Netherlands) in 2006; was appointed Associate Professor in 2012 and Professor in 2019. Prior to that, Professor Hoang Anh Tuan served as Vice Rector (2016-2020); and Vice Rector in charge of the University (September 2020 to present).
- Decision No. 799/QD-DHQGHN dated March 29, 2021, appoints Associate Professor Dr. Dao Thanh Truong as Vice Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi. Associate Professor Dr. Dao Thanh Truong was born in 1980, received his PhD in Sociology from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi; and was appointed Associate Professor in 2016. Prior to that, Associate Professor Dr. Dao Thanh Truong served as Head of the Faculty of Management Science (since 2015) and Director of the Institute of Policy and Management (2018-present).
On March 5, 2021, the Director of Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU) signed Decision No. 597/QD-VNU appointing Associate Professor Dr. Lai Quoc Khanh as Vice Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU. Associate Professor Dr. Lai Quoc Khanh was born in 1976, received his PhD in Philosophy in 2008 from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU; and was appointed Associate Professor in 2013. Associate Professor Dr. Lai Quoc Khanh has been the Vice Director of the Tran Nhan Tong Institute (since 2017).
On April 1, 2021, the Secretary of the Party Committee of Vietnam National University, Hanoi, signed Decision No. 141/QD-DU appointing Associate Professor Dr. Pham Xuan Thach to the Standing Committee and the position of Secretary of the Party Committee of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, term 2015-2020. Associate Professor Dr. Pham Xuan Thach, born in 1976, received his PhD in Literature from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi; was appointed Associate Professor in 2016; and has held the position of Head of the Faculty of Literature since 2015. |
