Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Kim Son (Member of the Party Central Committee, Party Secretary, President of VNU) presented appointment decisions to the new Party Secretary and Board of Directors of the University.
On the side of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, there are generations of leaders of the University through the periods: Prof. Dr. Phung Huu Phu (Permanent Vice Chairman of the Central Theoretical Council, former Secretary of the Party Committee of Hanoi National University, former first Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities); Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Quang Long (former Secretary of the Party Committee, former Rector of the University), Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Khanh (former Secretary of the Party Committee, former Rector of the University), Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Kim (former Secretary of the Party Committee, former Vice Rector of the University), Prof. Dr. Pham Quang Minh (former Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, former Rector of the University).
At the ceremony, Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Tien Vinh (Deputy Head of the Organization and Personnel Department, VNU) read the decisions: Decision No. 789/QD-VNU, Decision No. 799/QD-VNU signed by the Director of VNU on March 29, 2021, appointing Prof. Dr. Hoang Anh Tuan to the position of Rector of the University, appointing Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dao Thanh Truong to the position of Vice Rector of the University; Decision No. 597/QD-VNU signed by the Director of VNU on March 5, 2021 appointing Assoc. Prof. Dr. Lai Quoc Khanh to the position of Vice Rector of the University; Decision No. 141/QD-DƯ signed by the Secretary of the Party Committee of VNU on April 1, 2021 appointing comrade Pham Xuan Thach to the position of Secretary of the Party Committee of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities.

Speaking at the ceremony, Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Kim Son, on behalf of the Board of Directors of VNU, sent his congratulations to the newly appointed comrades at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities. The appointment decisions were made by the Standing Committee and the Board of Directors of VNU after a process of objective and responsible review and assessment. The Director of VNU requested the Board of Directors of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities to quickly complete the leadership system, build a framework of regulations and strict and coherent working principles for activities; promote the spirit of solidarity and traditional humanistic values to help the University continue to operate effectively and develop in accordance with the potential and expectations of the collective.

Speaking on behalf of the School, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Xuan Thach (Party Committee Secretary) expressed gratitude to generations of scientists and educators who have built the tradition of education, training and research of the School; thereby highlighting the need to maintain and firmly adhere to the foundations and roots that previous generations have worked hard to cultivate as a foundation for the future development of the School. In the context of the 4.0 Industrial Revolution and the era of today's connectivity, the School has more opportunities to promote its role, improve the quality of education, and spread humanistic values in society. The Party Committee and the Board of Directors of the School pledge to continue to strive and unite to continue affirming the reputation and leading position of the School in the field of training and research in Social Sciences and Humanities, developing the School in the direction of research and in the model of university autonomy.

Prof. Dr. Hoang Anh Tuan (Rector of the University) also expressed his gratitude to the leaders of VNU and generations of teachers and staff of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities for their contributions to building the "Humanities Foundation" as it is today. In response to those sentiments, the new Standing Committee - Board of Directors pledged to continue to join hands to develop the University on the basis of thoroughly grasping the orientation and unifying viewpoints; at the same time, establishing the principles of action in the spirit of: "unanimity, comradeship, agreement, unanimity". The University hopes to receive the attention and support of superiors, the companionship - joint efforts of partner units, as well as the trust - support - joint efforts - unanimity of all cadres and civil servants of the University.

On March 29, 2021, the Director of VNU signed the following decisions:
- Decision No. 789/QD-VNU appoints Prof. Dr. Hoang Anh Tuan, Vice Rector in charge, to hold the position of Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities. Prof. Dr. Hoang Anh Tuan was born in 1976, received a PhD in History from Leiden University (Netherlands) in 2006; Appointed Associate Professor in 2012, Professor in 2019. Previously, Prof. Dr. Hoang Anh Tuan held the position of Vice Rector (2016-2020); Vice Rector in charge of the University (September 2020 to present).
- Decision No. 799/QD-VNU dated March 29, 2021 appoints Associate Professor, Dr. Dao Thanh Truong to hold the position of Vice Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU. Associate Professor, Dr. Dao Thanh Truong was born in 1980, received his PhD in Sociology from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU; was appointed Associate Professor in 2016. Previously, Associate Professor, Dr. Dao Thanh Truong held the position of Head of the Faculty of Management Sciences (since 2015) and Director of the Institute of Policy and Management (2018-present).
On March 5, 2021, the President of VNU signed Decision No. 597/QD-VNU appointing Associate Professor Dr. Lai Quoc Khanh to hold the position of Vice Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU. Associate Professor Dr. Lai Quoc Khanh was born in 1976, received his PhD in Philosophy in 2008 from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU; was appointed Associate Professor in 2013. Associate Professor Dr. Lai Quoc Khanh is the Vice Rector of Tran Nhan Tong Institute (since 2017).
On April 1, 2021, the Secretary of the Party Committee of Vietnam National University, Hanoi signed Decision No. 141/QD-DƯ appointing Associate Professor, Dr. Pham Xuan Thach to join the Standing Committee and hold the position of Secretary of the Party Committee of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, term XXVII, 2015-2020. Associate Professor, Dr. Pham Xuan Thach was born in 1976, received a PhD in Literature from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi; was appointed Associate Professor in 2016; has held the position of Head of the Faculty of Literature since 2015. |
