The delegation included leaders of Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU), members of the VNU Council, the Chief of the Office, heads of VNU's functional departments; leaders of member universities, affiliated universities, research institutes, and units within VNU. Notably, the delegation also included leaders of the Faculty of Literature, professors and veteran teachers who were teachers of the 8th Literature class (Hanoi University of General Sciences), now the Faculty of Literature, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU, along with representatives of different generations of teachers and students of VNU.

The passing of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong is an immeasurable and irreplaceable loss for the entire Party and people of Vietnam. On behalf of the staff, scientists, lecturers, students, and pupils of Vietnam National University, Hanoi, Director Le Quan signed the condolence book, expressing deep affection and boundless sorrow for General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong – an outstanding leader, a brilliant intellect and character, a great moral personality who lived a simple yet noble life, wholeheartedly and devotedly serving the country, the Party, and the people. Under the leadership of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and the Central Committee, the Politburo, and the Secretariat, our country has made new and solid strides in development, so that "With all humility, we can still say that: Our country has never had such a foundation, potential, position, and international prestige as it does today."

During his lifetime, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong always showed special affection and deep concern for the development of Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU). This invaluable sentiment stemmed not only from the Party's highest-ranking leader's heartfelt concern for the development of science, technology, education, and training in the country, but also from the deeply cherished feelings of a former VNU student.
General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong – a great intellect, an outstanding talent of the Vietnamese revolution, a thinker, a cultural figure, a brilliant leader of our Party and people, and an outstanding alumnus of Vietnam National University, Hanoi – has passed away. However, his dedication and affection for Vietnam National University, Hanoi will forever live on, serving as a guiding principle for the university's development strategies. In the hearts of every staff member, scientist, lecturer, and student of Vietnam National University, Hanoi, will always be etched the image of a profound intellectual, full of compassion, humble in everyday life, who sacrificed himself for the great cause of the Party and the nation.
On July 26th, a memorial service and farewell ceremony was held to escort Comrade Nguyen Phu Trong to his final resting place at Mai Dich Cemetery, Hanoi.
