In the spirit of "mutual support and solidarity," and to promptly encourage, support, and share the difficulties with the families of students severely affected by the storms, the Trade Union of Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU) and the Youth Union - Student Association decided to allocate 860 million VND from the total amount collected after the fundraising campaign by union members, employees, parents, and students of VNU.

Speaking at the meeting, the Chairwoman of the Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU) Trade Union, Nguyen Thi Thao, extended her deepest condolences to the families of students who suffered heavy losses due to Typhoon No. 3, and expressed her sorrow over the difficulties and losses endured by the flood-affected people in recent times. The Chairwoman stated that while the gifts given to the students today may not be large sums of money, they contain the affection, care, and love of the staff, employees, lecturers, and students of VNU. She hoped that with encouragement from their university, the students would steadfastly overcome difficulties, continue to strive to become good citizens, and contribute to the development of society, their families, and themselves. VNU students always have the opportunity to study and strive with peace of mind, guided by the spirit of "One VNU" – a common home where VNU accompanies students in overcoming difficulties and challenges. On behalf of the Vietnam National University, Hanoi Trade Union, President Nguyen Thi Thao expressed gratitude and appreciation for the support and cooperation of all teachers, staff, and employees of Vietnam National University, Hanoi, who have contributed through the Trade Union organization.

On behalf of the Executive Committee of the Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU), the Secretary of the VNU Youth Union, Hua Thanh Hoa, shared her emotion at receiving nearly 570 donations from organizations and individuals following the call to action by the Youth Union and Student Association to support the people and students affected by Typhoon No. 3. Some students, despite having very little money left for living expenses, decided to donate all their funds to help those in greater need. To date, the fundraising campaign launched by the Youth Union has received over 530 million VND. The VNU Youth Union will, on behalf of the individuals and organizations that participated in the donation, send gifts to VNU students affected by the storm and floods, and a portion of the funds will be transferred to provincial Youth Unions to repair and restore schools in the mountainous areas of Northern Vietnam. Following a review and visit to students after Typhoon No. 3, the Youth Union and Student Association of Vietnam National University, Hanoi, decided to award gifts to 182 students at four levels (10 million, 5 million, 3 million, and 1 million VND) with a total budget of 430 million VND.
Through this meeting, the Secretary of the Youth Union, Hua Thanh Hoa, wanted to send greetings and encouragement to the families of the students, and through the students, to their families. She hoped that the students would always be strong in overcoming misfortunes in life and would always believe that they have friends, the collective, the school, and especially VNU Hanoi to support them.
Youth Union Secretary Hua Thanh Hoa extended her best wishes to the students, wishing them good health, excellent studies, and that they will soon become successful individuals in life, continuing to contribute to society and support those in more difficult circumstances in the future.
At the meeting, students had the opportunity to share more about the severe impact of the storm on the areas and localities where their families live. Student Nguyen Vu Bao Chau from the International Faculty of Francophone Studies, VNU Hanoi, expressed her gratitude to VNU Hanoi, the Trade Union, the Youth Union, the Student Association, and all the teachers, students, and faculty members of VNU Hanoi for their support and assistance in overcoming the difficulties her family faced due to the natural disaster. In addition, Nguyen Vu Bao Chau urged her fellow students in similar circumstances to persevere, maintain their spirits, and strive to overcome their losses.

On September 17, 2024, the Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU) Trade Union received 1.8 billion VND from its affiliated trade unions to support those affected by the floods. VNU Trade Union is committed to using the funds for their intended purpose and ensuring they reach the right people in need. VNU will contribute a portion to the general support fund of the Vietnam Education Trade Union, another portion will be used to support VNU students affected by the storm, and a further portion will be directly distributed to the most severely affected schools.
Previously, upholding the tradition of humanity, mutual support, and compassion, the staff and lecturers of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU-USSH) had carried out many activities to support people in the northern provinces severely affected by Typhoon No. 3 and its aftermath.
Since September 10, 2024, the University's Trade Union has launched a fundraising campaign among all staff and employees, with each person contributing at least one day's salary. This initiative has received enthusiastic participation from all union members. To date, the University's Trade Union has received 307,555,289 VND from staff and employees.
On September 16, 2024, Professor Hoang Anh Tuan, Secretary of the Party Committee and Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, on behalf of all faculty and staff, presented a donation of 100,000,000 VND (One hundred million Vietnamese Dong) to the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front. This donation reflects the heartfelt desire of the faculty and staff of VNU-USSH to contribute a small part in alleviating the suffering caused by natural disasters, storms, and floods.

On the morning of September 17, 2024, representatives of the Trade Union of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities presented the Trade Union of Vietnam National University, Hanoi with 100,000,000 VND (One hundred million Vietnamese Dong) to carry out activities to share the difficulties with the people affected by the floods. The University has already allocated 348 million VND to 116 VNU-USSH students facing difficulties due to the floods; over 1 billion VND donated by partners for students in the new academic year 2024-2025 will continue to be considered and awarded by the University to students with excellent academic achievements, policy beneficiaries, and those in difficult circumstances...
