Summary of the thesis results: In the mid-19th century, China had to face the invasion of Western colonialism. In order to find a way to affirm the position of the nation and implement "rich country, strong army", social reform movements appeared in China one after another such as: the Yangwu movement (of progressive landlords in the Qing Dynasty to absorb and study advanced Western science and technology in 1860); the Mau Tuat Duy Tan movement in 1898; the Xinhai Revolution in 1919 (led by Sun Songshan to overthrow the rule of the Qing Dynasty) and the New Culture Movement (took place in 1919 with the important milestone being the May Fourth Movement). It can be said that these movements were the manifestation of the aspirations of the Chinese people in the process of transforming the country from backward feudalism to the modern era. The thesis, based on analysis and synthesis, has shown the close relationship between the integration movements and the modernization process of China in the modern period, clarifying the process, model and inevitability of modernization in China, thereby showing us more clearly the successes and failures of China before the requirements of history in the early days of the country's modernization process. The thesis uses the method of analysis and synthesis to study the integration movements of modern China, fully explaining the historical and cultural origins of the achievements that the reform and modernization process has brought to China today. Finally, on the basis of comparing the reform movements of the three countries of China - Vietnam - Japan to see the similarities and differences on the modernization path of these three Asian countries. This is also the unique point of the thesis. 11. Practical applicability: (if any) 12. Further research directions: comparative research on Vietnamese-Chinese culture.
