While single-parent families are rare, the most common form remains the small nuclear family. Gender and educational attainment influence the changes in family size. It is predicted that family sizes will continue to shrink in the future, and the trend towards single-parent families will increase.
11. Practical applications: Based on an analysis of changes in family size and the factors affecting family size in Hanoi today, this thesis proposes recommendations to promote positive changes and mitigate negative changes in Vietnamese families.
