Supervisor: Prof. Dr. Le Quang Thiem 10. Summary of the results of the thesis: - In terms of theory, the thesis is an expansion of the scope of the survey and a deeper step of research compared to the university graduation thesis "Initial survey of the semantic field - vocabulary about the country in some Vietnamese poems in the period 1945 - 1975". Therefore, this thesis continues to contribute to clarifying the viewpoint on the semantic field, the semantic layer, specifically the symbolic semantic layer of the lexical semantic field according to the functionalist and cognitive approach. Thereby, the thesis helps to better understand the meaning of lexical units, especially the symbolic meaning in literary and artistic works through the separation of each layer of meaning, each layer of meaning in each context, the context in which the word operates. Because the word does not exist independently, it always exists in relation to other units. If a linguistic symbol often has a unity between the expression and the expressed, then in poetry it is not always the case. The expression in poetry is nothing more than the outer layer of glass that covers a world of multi-faceted images. If one does not understand that, the recipient will miss the true values of language as well as the unique, magical values that the language artist creates from his artistic creativity. - In terms of practice, the research results of the thesis are directed towards the following applications: + Perfecting the system of word meanings, as a basis for gathering the semantic field in the most complete and vivid way. + Comparing with Vietnamese dictionaries, considering the meanings and semantic features of words revealed in literary and artistic works that have been generalized in dictionaries or not, adding them to the system of word meanings in dictionaries. + Finding out whether new meanings (mainly symbolic meanings) of words in literary and artistic works are part of the daily language usage habits of the language community or not. Are those new meanings commonly used in the language community or are they only valuable in literature and poetry? Therefore, the statistical and descriptive results contribute to understanding the relationship between the system of inherent meanings in the words themselves and the system of meanings of words generalized in Vietnamese dictionaries and their manifestations in literature and art, with comparison and contrast with daily language usage habits. 11. Ability to apply in practice: The research results of the topic will also be reference materials and help in compiling modern Vietnamese dictionaries. 12. Published works related to the thesis: Graduation thesis: "Initial survey of the semantic field - vocabulary about the country in some Vietnamese poems in the period 1945 - 1975"

Mentor: Prof. Doctor. Le Quang Thiem 10. Executive summary: - Theoretically, the essay is an extension of survey scope and deaper research compared to the graduation paper titled “Initial study the semantic field of words refer to country in the language of some Vietnamese poems of stage 1945-1975”. Therefore, this essay continues to clarify viewpoints on semantic fields and stratum of word, especially the symbolized stratum in the semantic field in the approach of theories of function and recognition. Thereby, the essay contributes to a better understanding of meanings of lexical units, especially of symbolized meanings in literature and art works through the looting of meaning, meaning stratum in specific contexts and circumstances. That is because words do not exist independently but in relationship with other units. If a linguistic sign has a unity between the reference and referent, this is not the case in poems. The reference in poems are nothing but a layer of glass wrapping a world of multiplicities. Failing to understand that meaning, the receipent will bypass authentic values of words as well as unique and marvelous values created by the word artist from his (her) creativity ability. - Practically, findings of the essay focus on the following applications: + Completing the linguistic system of words, creating a base for the full and lively grouping of meaning fields. + Looking up Vietnamese dictionaries, examining meanings and meaning features of words expressed in literary and art works to see if they are generalized or supplemented in the meaning system of the dictionaries. + Finding out new meaning features (mainly symbolic meaning) of words as expressed in literary and art works if they are in line with daily linguistic usage of the linguistic community; to see if those new meaning features are commonly used in the linguistic or only in literary and poetic works. Thus, quantifiable and discriminative findings contribute to the better understanding of the relationship between the potential meaning system in the words themselves and the meaning system of words generalized in Vietnamese dictionaries and their manifestations in literature and art words with comparision to daily linguistic usage customs. 11.
