- The thesis is to search the background of Vietnamese culture and literature from the second half of the 18th century to the first half of the 19th century, especially when Nguyen dinasty unified the country. In this background, Cao Ba Quat generated the concept giving the prominence to the reality of sentiment and feeling, criticizing the literature stream of Nguyen dinasty for the lack of life sentiments and creative personality. The concept helps the readers acknowledge the proceeding meaning – creativeness in his literature concept with the current background.

- The thesis is to research “spirit” theory in the theory of Chinese and Vietnamese literature, particularly analyze to highlight characteristics of “spirit” theory in the composing concept of Cao Ba Quat.
