7. Thesis title:Developing spiritual tourism in the western area of Hanoi.

10. Summary of the thesis results:

Through research, analysis, and synthesis of documents, as well as field surveys, the thesis "Developing Spiritual Tourism in the Western Area of Hanoi" has identified the following basic issues:

Firstly, the thesis has summarized the basic theories on tourism, spirituality, and spiritual tourism activities, as well as their role in the socio-economic development of the Vietnamese people.

Furthermore, the thesis has essentially outlined some typical spiritual tourism resources in the western area of Hanoi that are currently being exploited or have value for tourism, and clarified the current state of exploitation and preservation of this type of tourism in the region in recent years.

Unlike other documents and research studies on spiritual tourism in Hanoi, which only address a small area within the inner city or only one aspect of spiritual tourism activities—namely, cultural and religious tourism in the western districts of Hanoi (formerly Ha Tay province)—while spiritual tourism encompasses both religious and cultural tourism, this thesis presents and studies a comprehensive overview of spiritual tourism in the entire western area of Hanoi today (formerly Ha Tay province), encompassing both religious and belief aspects.

Finally, this thesis contributes to guiding the exploitation of spiritual tourism resources towards creating "unique" products for the region to generate its own appeal to domestic and international tourists, helping to disseminate and preserve the traditional cultural values of one of our country's ancient lands.

11. Practical applications:

The thesis proposes solutions with a high potential for practical application. In particular, the proposed solution package for developing spiritual tourism programs is entirely feasible, including:

- A tour program to study ancient architectural works of temples and pagodas in the Đoài region (Huong Pagoda, Tay Phuong Pagoda, Thay Pagoda, Mia Pagoda, Va Temple, Tram Gian Pagoda)... This program can last 2 days and 1 night and is organized in the autumn to avoid the noise and crowds of other tourists.

- This tour program focuses on the historical architecture of Buddhist temples during the Tay Son dynasty. Although this dynasty lasted only 15 years, the Buddhist architecture of this period tended towards "Buddhism inseparable from worldly affairs." The temples of this era combined elements of worldly life, creating unique and valuable works of art, many of which no longer remain today. (Kim Lien Pagoda, Tay Phuong Pagoda, Mia Pagoda, etc.)

- Organize meditation courses and Buddhist learning sessions at major temples such as Huong Pagoda and Tram Gian Pagoda, so that participants will have enough time and space to immerse themselves in nature and the tranquil spiritual world, experiencing moments of peace in this sacred Buddhist land.

- Develop two types of spiritual tourism products: pure spiritual tourism and specialized spiritual tourism. Pure spiritual tourism consists of tours visiting temples and historical sites for pilgrimage and relaxation. Specialized spiritual tourism involves participating in meditation retreats, communal practice, and chanting Buddhist prayers.

- Particularly in this region, there is a system of Taoist temples that have developed along the banks of the Day River. Although Taoism is one of the three major religions introduced to Vietnam, research on Taoism has not been extensive. The author proposes developing a Taoist research tourism program based on the system of Taoist temples along the Day River: Lao Quan Temple (Hoai Duc) – Vien Duong Temple (Hoai Duc) – Hoi Linh Temple (Thanh Oai) – Lam Duong Temple (Ha Dong).

10. Master thesis's result summary:

By document researching, analyzing and synthesizing as well as actual field survey, the thesis “Development of the spiritual tourism in the Western area of Hanoi” achieves the following basic issues:

First, the thesis has generalized the system of basic theory about the tourism, spiritual and spiritual tourism activities and its role for the social - economic development of Vietnamese.

Next, the thesis has generalized the typical spiritual tourism resources in the Western area of Hanoi which are exploiting or have the value for tourism development and clarify the reality of the exploitation and preservation of this tourism type in the area in the recent years.

The documents and research works about Hanoi spiritual tourism mention one small area in Hanoi city or only one part of spiritual tourism which is belief cultural tourism activities of the provinces in the Western of Hanoi (former Ha Tay province), while the spiritual tourism includes cultural tourism. The difference of this thesis is that it outlines and generally researches the spiritual tourism of the whole area of Western Hanoi nowadays (former Ha Tay) including both religious and belief circumstances.

Finally, the thesis partly orients the spiritual tourism resource exploitation towards building the “different” products of the area in order to attract domestic and international tourists in a different way to help disseminate and preserve traditional cultural value of one of the ancient areas in our country.

11. The possibility of practical applications:

The thesis gives the solutions which are greatly possible for practical applications. Especially, the solution package to build the spiritual tourism program which is completely carried on as follows:

- The tour program to research the ancient architectural works of Communal houses – Temples – Pagodas in Doai area (Huong Pagoda – Tay Phuong Pagoda – Thay Pagoda – Mia Pagoda – Va Temple – Tram Gian Pagoda…). This program can last 2 days 1 night and the time to organize is in the autumn to avoid the crowded and noisy situation caused by tourists.

- The tour program to research the Buddhist architectural history in Tay Son period. This dynasty lasted only 15 years but the Buddhist architecture in this period trended “The Buddhism does not separate the world”. In this period, Buddhist shrine had the factor to combine with the world so it created works with unique value that does not remain much (Kim Lien Pagoda – Tay Phuong Pagoda – Mia Pagoda…)

- Organizing the courses of dhyana, research of Buddhism at the big pagodas such as Huong pagoda, Tram Gian pagoda, etc… so participants can have enough time and space to wallow in the nature and the quite spiritual world with the peaceful moment of Buddhism.

- Building the two spiritual tourism products: pure spiritual and thematic spiritual tourism. Pure spiritual tourism is the tour to visit pagodas and relics to pilgrimage and relax. Thematic spiritual tourism is the tour to join the courses of dhyana, taking holy orders and praying to Buddha.

- Especially, there is a system of Taoism temples developing along Day river basin. Being one of the three traditional religions in Vietnam, the researches of Taoism have not yet developed. The author proposed to build the tourism program to research the Taoism based on the system of Taoism temples along Day river basin: Lao Quan temple (Hoai Duc) – Vien Duong temple (Hoai Duc) – Hoi Linh temple (Thanh Oai) – Lam Duong temple (Ha Dong).
