Summary of Thesis Results: Through studying and researching the phenomenon of Vietnamese women marrying Taiwanese men, I have developed my thesis topic, which includes three main contents: Causes of Vietnamese women marrying Taiwanese men; Current situation of Vietnamese women marrying Taiwanese men; and Directions for overcoming shortcomings in Vietnamese-Taiwanese marriages. The continuously strengthening economic, cultural, and labor cooperation between Taiwan and Vietnam has facilitated travel and exchange between the two sides, thus providing opportunities for Vietnamese women and Taiwanese men to meet, get to know each other, and eventually marry. However, this is compounded by the economic and emotional hardship faced by these brides and grooms. Most Vietnamese brides come from relatively difficult family backgrounds, viewing marriages to Taiwanese men as "rosy" marriages, believing they will change their lives and bring happiness to themselves and their families. This lack of understanding prevents these young women from fully grasping the difficulties they will face as daughters-in-law in a foreign land, with significant differences in language, culture, and customs. Meanwhile, most Taiwanese men who come to Vietnam to find wives are those who cannot find a wife in their home country due to their relatively low education level or income. Therefore, they turn to Southeast Asian countries, including Vietnam, as a lifeline, where they can find a suitable wife at the lowest cost. Thus, marriages between Vietnamese women and Taiwanese men are a meeting of two needs and two different types of searches. Most of the women marrying Taiwanese men are very young (mainly 18 to 21 years old) and have low levels of education, mainly concentrated in areas with relatively difficult economic conditions. The Taiwanese grooms, on the other hand, are mostly 30 years old or older and primarily have a secondary school education. Vietnamese women who marry into foreign families face numerous difficulties, the first of which are language barriers, social prejudices, challenges in obtaining citizenship, and the risk of serious domestic violence and sexual abuse. While happy marriages are considered bright spots, many unhappy marriages leave behind extremely serious consequences. These include the issue of mixed-race children with Taiwanese parents, gender imbalance in Taiwan, and the trafficking of women, all of which can be disguised as marriages. To address these shortcomings in Vietnamese-Taiwanese marriages, both Vietnam and Taiwan must cooperate to implement appropriate measures to support Vietnamese brides in foreign countries, while simultaneously preventing marriages that are not based on love and do not aim to build a happy family. However, the most important solution remains how to improve the material and spiritual quality of women's lives so that they can have a more accurate and realistic view of marriages with foreigners, or be better prepared when deciding to marry a foreigner. The phenomenon of Vietnamese women marrying Taiwanese men is no longer a hot topic, but it still requires research and appropriate measures to improve the quality of marriages with Taiwanese men in particular and foreigners in general, bringing these marriages back to their true meaning. 11. Summary of the findings of the thesis: (Summarize them with stress on the new findings, if any) Through my study and research on the phenomenon that Vietnamese women get married with Taiwanese men, I build my thesis in three parts of content: The reason why Vietnamese women get married with Taiwanese men, the reality and the solutions to problems in Vietnam – Taiwanese marriage. That the Vietnam - Taiwan economic, cultural and labor cooperation have continuously grown makes the transportation and exchanges between the two countries more simple and convenient. Vietnamese women and Taiwanese men, so, have more chances to contact, find out about each other and get married. Besides, poverty in material and mental life of both grooms and brides is one reason. Most of Vietnamese brides have poor families; so they see their marriages with Taiwanese men as “pink ones” which will completely change the life of themselves and their family, giving them a happier life. The less awareness as well prevents them from realizing the difficulties of living overseas with completely different language, culture and custom. Meanwhile, Taiwanese men who come to Vietnam to find wives can't get married in Taiwan due to low academic standard and income. So, they see South East Asian countries including Vietnam as a good solution to have a pleased wife at the lowest cost. Then, Vietnam-Taiwan marriage is a meeting of mutual demand and seeking. Most of these Vietnamese girls are very young (mostly from 18 to 21 years old), have low academic standards and are in economically disadvantaged areas. Taiwanese grooms are mostly over 30 years old and at common education level. When getting married overseas, Vietnamese girls get many difficulties the first things of which are language barriers, social preconceptions, obstacles in naturalization as well as becoming victims of violence and serious sexual violations. Besides happy endings like bright points in the whole picture, there are many unhappy marriages which cause a lot of serious and hard consequences. Firstly, it's the matter of Taiwan when it results in sex imbalance as well as women traffic under the form of marriages. Then, to overcome the inadequacies in Viet-Tai marriages, both of Vietnam and Taiwan must co-ordinate to give the most suitable solutions in order to support Vietnamese brides in Taiwan as well prevented marriages which are not the result of love or do not aim to build a happy family. However, the most important thing is how to enhance women's quality of material and mental life in order that they will have more sensible and practical view on marriages with foreigners or have more preparations for such oversea marriages. That Vietnamese women get married to Taiwanese is not a hot topical issue at present. Howerver, it's necessary to have further researches and right solutions to enhance the quality of marriages with Taiwanese as well as with foreigners in general, turning them into the right meaning it should have. 12.
