The thesis consists of 3 chapters:

Chapter 1: Overview of Political Parties in the American System

This chapter focuses on some basic concepts regarding the political system, political parties, and ruling parties in the United States. Based on the history of its formation from the founding of the nation and the drafting of the US Constitution, the author presents the context and causes leading to the formation of a multi-party system in the US, and the stages of development of the ruling party. Through this, the author clarifies the organization of political parties, their operating principles, especially those of the Democratic and Republican parties.

Chapter 2: Activities of the Democratic and Republican Parties from 2001 to the Present

This chapter focuses on analyzing domestic activities: economic, political, and socio-cultural; and foreign activities: the fight against terrorism and nuclear weapons by the Democratic and Republican parties under two presidents, George W. Bush (2001-2008) and Barack Obama (2009 to the present, 2015), through their national security doctrines and strategies during their terms.

Chapter 3: Some Observations on the Democratic and Republican Parties

Based on the research and analysis in Chapters 1 and 2, this chapter presents some observations on the similarities and differences in the policies and activities of the two parties, especially the viewpoints of Presidents George W. Bush and Barack Obama.

Through the study of "The Activities of the Democratic and Republican Parties in the American Political System from 2001 to the Present," this thesis aims to clarify the viewpoints of the two parties under the presidencies of G.W. Bush and B. Obama on domestic and foreign issues, especially in the fight against terrorism, and the strategies of the two parties in the context of a changing world order. Particularly after the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, in Washington and New York, the United States adopted strong stances and policies in the fight against terrorism.

Thesis topic: Comparing the operation of the Democratic Party and the Republican Party within the US political system since 2001.

The thesis consists of 3 chapters:

Chapter 1: Overview on political parties in the political system of the US

In this chapter, the author focuses on providing concepts of the political system, political parties of the US Based on the history of the US since the Independence day and its constitution, the author introduces the context and reasons leading to the formation of multi-party system of the US as well as the development period of the ruling party in the US Then, the author proceeds to identify the organization, operation of the political parties, especially the Democratic Party and the Republican Party.

Chapter 2: Operation of the Democratic Party and the Republican Party since 2001

The chapter focuses on analyzing the internal political activities such as economy, politics, socio-cultural matters; and the external political activities such as the war against terrorists and nuclear weapons spreading of the Democratic Party and the Republican Party with two Presidents: George W.Bush (2001-2008) and Barack Obama (2009 till now) and their national security strategy.

Chapter 3: Discussion on the Democratic Party and the Republican Party

Based on the first two chapters, the author analyzes the similarities and differences in the policies and operations of the two parties displayed through actions and decisions of President George W.Bush and President Barack Obama.
