10. Summary of the thesis results:

The family is the "cell" of society, the cradle that nurtures a person's entire life, and a crucial environment for shaping personality and educating lifestyles. The family performs unique functions that no other social institution possesses. Throughout human history, the family has affirmed its important position and role. Despite numerous upheavals and changes throughout history, the position and importance of the family to society remain unchanged. A healthy family unit leads to a healthy society, and everyone has the opportunity to develop. Therefore, strengthening the foundation of the family by effectively fulfilling its functions is always a concern for nations worldwide. However, as a cell of society, the family and the performance of its functions are heavily influenced by social changes. Based on this, this thesis contributes two important research findings:

Firstly, the research findings of this thesis contribute to clarifying the current state of family function implementation in the urbanization process in Hanoi.Urbanization is having a profound impact on society in general and on individual families in Hanoi in particular. It creates deep changes in people's lives, with suburban areas reflecting these effects most clearly. This impact has both positive and negative aspects. On the positive side, it improves the material and spiritual lives of families, enabling them to better fulfill their economic functions, thereby improving their reproductive and educational functions, and satisfying basic human needs. However, the rapid development of urbanization is accompanied by a reduction in agricultural land due to land reclamation or conversion to other uses. This situation strongly impacts families in Hanoi, especially those in suburban areas. When agricultural land disappears, people face job shortages, unemployment, housing difficulties, etc., affecting the sustainable development of families and society.

Secondly, this study proposes some basic recommendations and solutions to enhance the positive impacts and mitigate the negative impacts of the urbanization process on the performance of family functions in Hanoi today.In reality, the development of each family makes a positive contribution to the overall stable and sustainable development of society. During the modernization process in Hanoi, the fulfillment of family functions has occurred in both positive and negative ways, with the positive aspects being predominant. However, the fulfillment of family functions in the current period also presents many challenging issues. This requires the attention and leadership of the Party and the State, close guidance from local authorities at all levels, and the involvement of each family and each family member to promote the positive aspects and mitigate the negative impacts of modernization on the fulfillment of family functions in Hanoi. To achieve this, besides having the right perspective and viewpoint, a comprehensive and systematic study of the urbanization process in Hanoi, and the impacts of urbanization on the performance of family functions in Hanoi (especially in suburban districts), is essential. This provides a scientific foundation for the author to identify and propose five basic groups of solutions to promote the positive impacts and mitigate the negative impacts of urbanization, helping Hanoi families increasingly perform their functions well, contributing to building happy, equal, civilized, and progressive Hanoi families.

11. Practical applications:

Based on research, analysis, and evaluation of the current state of family function performance and the identification of some issues arising from the impact of urbanization on family function performance in Hanoi today, this thesis provides scientific arguments for proposing solutions to mitigate and limit the negative impacts of urbanization on family function performance in Hanoi. At the same time, the thesis can be used as a reference material for research and teaching in subjects such as Philosophy and Sociology.

Family is the “cell” of society and is the cradle feeding one's life, it is an important environment to build up personality and create their lifestyle. Family gets the unique function that no other social condition has gotten the same. By the human historical development, the family has proven its essential role. History underwent many changes, ups and downs, however family's position in society has not ever changed. A good family is contributing to a good society, of which, people get more development opportunities. Strengthening family foundation based on performance of its functions is always taking concern of nations around the world. However, as the cell of society, the family and the performance of its functions are greatly influenced under the process of social change. On this matter, the thesis presents two important results as follows:

The first, the thesis clarifies the existing situation of implementation of family's functions during process of Hanoi urbanization for today. The urbanization is impacting on both society and family. It makes deep changes into people's lives, peri-urban areas where clearly reflects the influence of urbanization most. The influence brings out influences both positive and negative. Positive is raising up the quality of physical and mental life into every family, thereby the economic function of family is improved and giving better conditions to reproductive and educational functions, simultaneously satisfying the basic needs of life. However, the development of urbanization associates strongly with shrinking area of ​​agricultural land due to acquisition and conversion purposes. The existing situation is strongly affecting on Hanoi families, especially families in suburban areas. Loss of agricultural land causes unemployment, housing difficulties as well as affecting the sustainable development of family and society.

The second, the thesis proposes several solutions to impulse positive influences and prevent negative influences during the process of urbanization and implementation of family's functions in Hanoi for today. The actual development of each family is a positive contribution to stability and sustainability of society. During Hanoi urbanization, implementation of family function is occurring in both positiveness and negativeness, of which, positiveness is more than negativeness. However, implementation of family functions currently poses many challenging issues. A requirement is that the above outstanding issues need to be taken into account of leadership of the Party and the State, the local authorities, and every family and its members to raise positiveness as well as eliminate negative impact from urbanization during performance of family function in Hanoi. To do so, it is not only necessary to have a correct view, but also needs to do systematic process of urbanization and serious research on its influence on implementation of families's functions in Hanoi (especially in suburban areas). The author would like to propose five basic groups of methods of impulsing positiveness and eliminating negativeness of influence on process of urbanization in Hanoi.

12. Applicability in practice:

Based on research, analysis, and assessment of the family function performing actuality, and identification of influences of urbanization process on the implementation of family functions in Hanoi today. The thesis also provides scientific evidence for solutions to negativeness promotion and negativeness elimination of urbanization process on the implementation of family's civil functions in Hanoi. Simultaneously, the thesis is possible to be used as a documentation for studying and teaching work towards subjects of Philosophy and Sociology.
